Anyone been using the Ocun Lites (red ones) for a while now? How do they fair in terms of durability?

Mine have held up well. I have used the BD more in the last 6 months though. I always put a tape wrap over the velcro all all of those things now as a precaution unless the jamming is minimal.

I'm between sizes with the BD crack gloves. I'm interested in those too. How do they size? Smallish or large? What about stretch after breaking in?

The backing material is a bit stretchy but in general the Ocun run small . They are significantly thicker than BD with less thumb coverage.

The problem I've always had with the Ocun gloves was wearing them on thin hands cracks (#1s-to-tight #2s, maybe even a baggy #0.75)--they were always too thick. Are these Ocun Lites any thinner?

Andy, I've worn the original Ocun gloves and still have a pair. I've tried on the Lites. They are very slightly thinner, but not appreciably so. However, the exact positioning of the finger holes and the size of the finger holes (they are larger) is different and I didn't find them to fit as well at the originals.

I still will wear the Ocun's for easier cracks, wide cracks, and as "workhorse" gloves, but without a doubt the BD gloves are better (for me) in every way except durability. I can jam thin hands and that size where it's not quite a jam but not quite a ringlock with them. I can jam flares and wide cracks with them, and I can face climb reasonably well with them on. They are comfortable and don't cause my hands to get too sweaty. Too bad they are flimsy and eventually tear, but they are otherwise, IMO, pretty ideal.

Thanks Josh. That convinces me a new pair (of Lites) isn't worth it. I've borrowed a few pairs of the BDs and love them other than that they seem to reduce friction (as compared to my bare backhand skin) in #3 cracks. Maybe it was just the rock, who knows, but those cupped hands felt a bit desperate with them on. I love the burly burly quality of the original Ocuns and have repaired the wrist straps several times as the finger loops and main rubber patch were still nearly new. Just wish they could slim em way down to fit those thin hand splitters...

Ocun glove are there for some year and it's maybe why everyone talk about them and not the Grivel Star Gloves. The Grivel goes under the radar for a year. They are slightly smaller, the Vibram grip is excellent and the finger loop are much more durable and less stretchy than the Ocun and OR. The thickness of the rubber is about the regular Ocun. I haven't tried the BD.

At $65/pair.....that may keep them under the radar

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
