Judge My Climbing Tattoos

How does everyone feel about haircuts? Should we all have the same 5 American haircuts and anything else is attention seeking? If this thread is attention seeking, how do any of you have conversations? |

Man, those are great tattoos!! I've been pondering getting a climbing tattoo... thanks for sharing : ) |

Ricky Harlinewrote: The OP said, "as the proud owner of at least 12 climbing related tattoos, I decided to open myself to all the ridicule, praise, harsh and loving comments mountain project has to offer." So I made fun of him. Thought I was doing a good job following instructions. |

John RBwrote: Yeah, fair enough. He's certainly a good sport about it! Maybe I'm overly sensitive about the crusty "the kids are having fun wrong" types since they annoy me so much. If we were around a campfire or at the crag I think would have understood your intention and that the aim was humor and not to insult. Hard to figure out on the internet and all, and I am rarely accused of having social skills, which ups the difficulty even further =P |

In all seriousness I honestly think tattoos are just self mutilation and coming from a place of being prideful and not something to be admired like many things in our crazy modern culture....but don't let my opinion stop you. |

I carry my home mountain tattooed on the back of my shoulder. It's nearly completely covered by a short sleeve shirt and I got it when I was living away from home for most of a year. It was a way to always have a piece of home with me where ever I went. It very much was addressing a mental challenge that I was going through at that point in my life and it is a good reminder of all the joy that the mountains bring to me along with what I was going through at that point in my life. I'm not personally a fan of "tattoos to fill space" but I appreciate the artwork and the meaning behind most of those in the OP. It's still a humblebrag. |

Nice, a bunch of these are more outside the box and creative. (I think carabiners and cams as tattoos look kinda cringe). mersendyclimberson on IG probably has some of the best tats I've seen. |

Honestly Eric, I feel like you could have been a bit more creative with your tattoos. I've got an idea for you: a carabiner but you put mountains INSIDE of it. Pretty neat, right? I just feel like it would be really unique and original. Hope nobody has thought of this before! |

Christopher Smithwrote: I wasn't a coherent rebuttal; it was an irrational emotional response. He vilified and exaggerated people on the other side of an issue and put words, thoughts, and feelings into their mouths. If you don't have a coherent rebuttal based on your thought and ideas then resorting to attacking and misrepresenting other people is a lame move. I'm plenty un PC and I see idiocy, typically on the far left AND the right. Throwing out all the good Muir did because he had some poor ideas is lame, but also brushing them under the rug and not admitting they were wrong is also lame. People can have mixed legacies and rational people can admit that. |
