North Conway Rock Climbs second edition now available

Handbook Publishing is pleased to announce that the second edition of North Conway Rock Climbs is now available.

For the initial release period, the book will only be available from the website, www.northconwayrockclimbs.com. The cost is $48 which includes free media mail shipping. A priority mail option is available for faster delivery.

This edition includes around 500 new routes for a total of 2200. In the 10 years since the first edition came out, many of the well-established cliffs such as Cathedral and Sundown have seen important additions while other established but previously obscure areas have matured into major climbing zones. Also, many smaller new cliffs have been found and developed around the region, with the emphasis being on more moderate sport and mixed climbs.

Aside from the routes, this edition includes a full history section and a full index by grade. There are also many new and upgraded crag shots as well as a large number of new action shots showcasing many of the newer and most classic routes.

I’ve been getting a few questions about the guidebook. Rather than reply individually, I think it makes sense to answer here.

Where can I buy the book?
The book is currently only available from the website  www.northconwayrockclimbs.com. Although we did initially release a few books to a couple of local gyms and IME in North Conway. We expect to continue using only the website for at least a couple of months.

How much is covered in Western Maine?
We have around 80 pages devoted to Western Maine. This includes Evans Notch, the cliffs around Bethel and also Shagg Crag for a total of around 400 routes, primarily sport climbs. The idea was for the coverage to be definitive, but there are a few, mostly very minor cliffs, that we left out for various reasons.
