Moving to Madison

Hey there!! I’m moving to Madison from San Diego the first week of May! I’m really excited to learn a new city and meet some new people! I’m looking for people to go climbing with and to show me around! Here’s a little about me
Moving with my girlfriend who I’ve been with for 5 years I’m very active and love to hike, climb, lift weights, run, camp I’ve climbed since 2018 and I’ve got a full double rack of cams for trad. Can lead up to 10c/d sport and 5.10a trad comfortably. I’ve got everything I need to go climbing anywhere, and have no problem showing newer climbers how to safely climb outside.
I’ll be living in downtown Madison in the Basset neighborhood. I’ll have a car too and I’m always down for day trips to check out new climbing areas! Don’t hesitate to reach out! My phone number is (559) 760-6856 |

Welcome to the Midwest! Wisconsin has a great climbing scene! Devils Lake State Park is 45 min from Madison and has some of the best rock quality anywhere. There are some satellite crags with some sport climbing as well. The season is short, but if you’re tough you can start climbing in February and climb into November. I know Madison has lots of gym groups that get out to the Lake every weekend. The regular crews at Necedah (Petenwell Bluff) are generally friendly too. |

Kevin! Join the old guy's climber club or what I like to call the east side possy or squad... Weekend trips up to DLSTP and/or any number of other great but little climbing locations around S. Wisco. Burt |

If you're into fly fishing at all, there is some awesome fly fishing west of Madison. The Driftless region is great. Go north 6 hours and you get into the north woods and the BWCAW, which is awesome too. Enjoy. I always wanted to live in Madison. |

Hey Kevin, I’m on the other side of the Capitol, in the Tenney-Lapham neighborhood, and I try to get up to Devils Lake every week or so on weeknights, if that time is of interest to you. Welcome to the neighborhood! |

Thanks everyone for the kind responses!! Mission Gorge is my home crag and where I learned to climb! So the slickness is definitely nothing new to me. I’ll definitely be checking out devils lake, already on my list!! Glad to hear there’s a fairly active climbing scene, makes moving out to a new location feel very welcoming! Not big on fly fishing, but maybe I’ll have to try it out someday |

Kevin Kirkwrote: Good news is that DL is WAY, WAY, WAY, better than Mission Gorge. Cycling is also excellent in Wisconsin. |
