I kinda prefer the shoe cam simplicity over the excessive production quality of some climbing videos nowadays.

Well then here is someone else in the shoe cam cult doing the first known lead ascent of a Jtree tree TR route

I love how his bud dropped a huge rock at 2:02.

Rich is a friend of mine and I reject that characterization of him. He's got a different way of approaching things.

He's established scores of routes up to 5.13- in difficulty. He never pre-inspected on rappel and all of his routes were done ground up including many serious affairs into the 12- X range.  It takes an extraordinary talent to accomplish that. He continues to establish new routes at the age of 65.

Not saying it in a disparaging way.  I guess different way of approaching things is certainly one way of putting it.  Definitely an incredibly talented climber and I respect that.

Put up by James Pearson, seems like British style with some runouts and small gear!
I'm curious about her clipping a micro nut with just a carabiner and not even a short quickdraw. Was she that concerned with a ground fall that the extra 6" makes a difference?

Not really an "awesome" video, too much chuffing and cursing and hesitating for it to qualify as that...

but it's exciting when your "first of a grade" is R rated and on gear (+ a fixed knifeblade)

Took me a sec to realize just how steep that was.  What makes it R though?  Is the gear pretty terrible?

Nice job on that route and it looks like really interesting climbing! I've had that problem before where a tree branch is what my phone focuses on and it makes the climbing blurry.

Although the routes here are mostly bolted limestone, still pretty trad and seems to fit here. And definitely awesome. Cedric Lachat has a great manic energy.

Bruh. We want splitter cracks, shitty gear placements, long runouts, and big whippers. Not some sportos clipping bolts...

No, I  thought this was great, and thought about posting it.
