GLW filling that position, but $13 an hour is a pretty tough sell when you can work somewhere like In N' Out for more.

It's a longtime tradition on MP - if you post a job on here, somebody will complain about the pay.

Frank I think people complain about the pay because this person’s company is offering like $950 per month TOTAL after tax and the average rent for a 1 bedroom in Vegas is now $1400. You could work at 5 guys burgers or Krispy Kreme for $15/hr

Excellent point Chase. I'll bring this up to the boss in our next meeting. We really should increase wage price so that our entry level employees working 20 hour weeks can afford all these $1400 rooms. Who do these greedy, lazy small business owners think they are!?

Also with the 5 guys and Krispy Kreme comparison - we could totally use uniforms, hats, rude customers, and all that opportunity for growth that is synonymous with these corporate franchises. Another brilliant idea!

"Pretty easy dude to work for" if you don't mind having your legitimate concerns responded to with histrionics like these.

In 2022, thirteen bucks an hour for an allegedly grownup job can GTFO.

You may not have set the wage, but you're defending it. I'll take the free employee lunch program for that price.

For those who choose to live in reality - if you're looking for a job where you can smoke a doobie and show up to work 15 minutes late without worrying about getting fired, have a flexible schedule, this may be the job for you. Alternatively if you want to bust your ass, increase business, and have an opportunity to make a real living, this also may be the job for you. ;)

I'm currently doing this for 6 figures a year lol but I still choose to wait till after work since I'm doing a lot of sketchy shit.

How much do you guys think the job should pay?

Edit: If you do provide a number, please state the basis for that number.

Quick question, whats the difference between your rate and the one you're trying to fill as their "boss".

I think the job should pay at least 16.50 an hour since that’s what Amazon offers for zero experience in Atlanta. Some of their warehouses offer $18/hr for no experience.

Uline starts people with zero experience at 25/hr for warehouse work in the Atlanta area. I know someone who vouches that everyone gets Christmas bonuses that are minimum thousands of dollars. Some get close to 8k as a basic worker

Thanks, Erik. On a couple of websites I looked at, there were entry-level, part-time jobs in Vegas ranging from $12-20/per hour. I think it's whatever you can hire someone for and whatever a prospective employee will accept.

I don't think there is a "right" answer for how much you need to pay someone. It's what the market will bear. If someone accepts a job at $13/hour, then that is the agreement between the employer and the employee.

If the employer can't find anyone for $13, then he may have to raise the hourly pay to make it more attractive.

There's a wide range of starting pay for part-time, entry-level jobs.

The concept of a "living wage" for such a job is nonsense.

Edit: This employer can be as "picky" as he wants. I don't think "easy-going" means no standards. And he should be able to offer $1/hr., if he wants, but don't get me started on how ridiculous minimum wage laws are. :)

Most basic jobs are just busy bodies that would be replaced by robots if we could figure out an algorithm for common sense.

Most employers of these jobs won’t give a healthy wage to people who they view as “just a body to keep a machine moving”. Uline is definitely an outlier company that wants a true 8 hours of work for your 8 hours of time and effort given in the warehouse.

With that said, it’s interesting that a job that’s dramatically less involved, like a gas station attendant, still gets offered more in hourly wages than this man is offering. He is also seeming to be picky with who he is willing to hire for such low wages (see that he mentions already passing on multiple candidates that applied), but also claims to be easy going?
