Lincoln NH area advice for Ice/Winter adventures

Heading to Lincoln and wanted some local beta on some adventure ideas.

I have a potential partner who also climbs ice and thinking about these:

I saw theres some TR Ice climbing at the gorge. Considered weekday for this adventure, does it get crowded? legit good ice right now?

I saw theres some light adventure up the Silver Cascade and Flume Cascade as pair of fun ascends, are these worth it? Easy to navigate as a complete new climber to the area?

Then, I have a more hiker approach group who climbs but doesn't Ice climb that want to get into some adventure.

Would the Flume Slide Trail be fun hike with a little crampon and ice tool in sections kinda work?

Anything more worth doing?  Spray on and let me know.

Feb 21st-26th are my dates*

thanks,

Skaggs

PS- my wife and kid have tickets to the Ice castles, but I hope they have fun there while I have a real adventure in the mountains* Other beta on local hot spots is welcome too.

I’d go kinsman notch for ice. A wide array of levels and a very short approach. Right

Now the cascades are basically a snow climb. You could consider skiing them.

Kingsman and the flume are both great. I'm free that Monday and Friday if you want someone who knows the area to climb with

Ice in most places is pretty fat right now. The Flume has top access to set TRs but can be kinda sketchy. Kinsman essentially has no top access (maybe around the right side but haven’t seen anyone do it). There are some pretty easy climbs that are great for newer leaders. It’s a great place to learn.

Theres plenty of great hiking in the area. Just Google and pick your fun!

Thanks. Ill check out those places. I was thinking The flume because it was 10 minutes from the place I'm staying.  Keep it coming.

I might need a friday adventure so I'll keep you posted Nick.

Yeah kinsman is literally ten mins across from Lincoln. Right now the flume is probably quite picked out. Kinsman maybe less so.

Sadly I am no longer his potential ice climbing partner due to work nonsense. Get Skaggs some stoke!

Hey Skaggs,

The Flume can get a little absurd with crowds and guided parties and all. You will probably be OK mid-week though.

In addition to the recommendation for Kinsman, you might want to consider High and Dry and the Summer Slide. Both are easy, adventurous, ice climbs in Franconia Notch. Definitely check snow conditions. High and Dry can be a bit of a chore to get to, but fits the bill for adventure for your hiker group that climbs, but not ice.

Shoestring, though a bit of a commute from Lincoln, would also be a reasonable objective for your party.

Have fun,

Brad

Thanks for all the feedback, If anyone is bored in the area the 22nd-23rd let me know... seems like my partner just bailed on me but I'm still stoked to swing some axes.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
