Resurrecting an oldie but goodie that Standing Strong created on the Taco back in 2008. 20,000+ posts couldn't be wrong.... Today's tune.... |

Listened through Dawn FM by the Weeknd a couple times over the last week. Can't say the synth-pop style is my favorite but Jim Carrey is on the album and the last track, spoken word by Jim, kinda slaps if you're into sappy stuff like that. see link below. |

Nothing right now, but I had to do some driving today, and the program went like this... The fifth movement of Hector Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique. About halfway through it the chimes ring, and the tubas and trombones lay out the Dies Irae, followed by a gorgeous choir of cornets and trumpets playing the same. Old Hector was cutting it close. Not many years before, his use of that chant in a secular symphony would have earned him a posthumous ex-communication. After a frenzied dance in hell, the sun shines through the clouds as the subject of this music, a man in the throws of a bad opium experience, comes out of his trance. Then I hit traffic, and it had to be Metallica "Kill 'em All." Of course that didn't fix the traffic, so I went with some tracks from Buena Vista Social Club, B-Tribe, Simone Shaheen, and Enzo Avitabile. The last is quite depressing, if you know the lyrics, but since they're singing in Neapolitan, they're easy to ignore. |
