Calaveras Domes Questions

Haven't ventured out to Bald Rock yet and didn't try for Calaveras based on the current conditions information. Sticking to CRG/Sugarloaf/Auburn Quarry for now. |

When you get to it. Bald Rock Dome is worth the trip. Remote, easy BLM camping, never a crowd and a mini adventure just to get to the face. Then... 50 shades of fun heading back to the top. A great weekend adventure or a fun long day. Cheers. |

Only thing I’ll add about Bald Rock Dome is that lots of the bolts are very rusty and could use a replace. Did 6 Pitch this time last year and every bolt was very rusted. Just don’t fall on the runouts and it should be fine! |

Tragically, the North Complex fire wiped out that entire community. We did replace the bolts on some of the harder routes to the left. Would be great to get the ones on the right side. Bald rock dome has some of the best granite I've ever seen. |

I might be up for a rebolting project this spring if anyone else is up to it. I have tools to extract button heads and both sleeve anchors and wedge anchors. I can also provide all the hardware if someone’s willing to do some recon and get a general count of what we’re going to need. Weekdays are best for me. |

My understanding is that it is definitely closed. I haven’t been there obviously, but I’ve been through the area several times and from what I gathered was everything is closed out there. Go to the Mill. It’s a hop and a skip north. |

I have mussy hooks (not ideal for Bald rock), and some ASCA hardware I could donate some of. Chad, reach out to me if this comes to fruition. |
