I'm not really sure how shoes get made, but from my observations, it seems like the cobblers "cut" around the front in order to produce that clean edge that new shoes come with for your toes and wrapped around the sides.
Well, it seems like whoever did it to my new pair of tenaya mastias got carried away with how deep they went and clearly cut into the toe cap rubber, making it even thinner. I've worn them for three or four casual climbing sessions at the gym or at home. There is now an air bubble where the toe cap meets the lower rubber on one of the shoes, and its clearly ready to burst open. Pretty annoyed about this because I know it's not from me abusing the shoes. Not really sure what to do about it since I ordered them from europe and returning them is probably a small fortune; plus they've been used now and most stores don't take returns on used items. Do I say something an try to get them swapped out or just bite the bullet for this type of stuff?
