Saw this gem on Reddit. Does anybody know the story? Search and rescue? https://www.reddit.com/r/gifs/comments/r4ceqj/dropping_of_some_climbers_on_top_of_a_spire/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share |

Reddit says it was highliners setting up... |
|
|
People also get dropped off on the Titan to jump it sometimes. Lots of fun to be had |
|
|
It was sketchy Andy and his crew I believe I was it in his feed |

Lame. Zero style points. They should just jump from the helicopter or stay home. Even better they should climb the towers they intend to jump off/high line from instead of flying helicopters in sacred places ruining a serene experience for everyone who is there. |

WTF? |

McGyver? |

Haters gonna hate. At the end of the day how does this affect you personally...? How many of you have actually climbed the Titan? |

Grug Mwrote: Are you serious??? Hahaha. Dang scout you must have a stacked fisher resume full of horror shows and gnar to be piping up and wanting to know who has climbed what to determine the validity of their opinions in this discussion. I promise that a helicopter dropping folks off on top of any tower in the fishers doesn’t affect just the people who have climbed said tower. It affects everyone in the entire park. Enjoying these special places isn’t just for climbers and it’s defiantly not for aircrafts. I would be very upset if I was on a long string of tipped out beaks on the side of the Titan looking at a monstrous fall and a helicopter come roaring in to drop people off. I’d be equally as upset if I was going for a morning walk to catch the sun rise over the Mystery's and witnessed the same thing. It’s not just about how something affects you... it’s about how something affects everyone. A strong (competent) team of aid climbers that wants to boogey can easily climb the finger of fate in under 5 hrs. Getting dropped off on a tower to BASE jump off seems like a complete loss of the novelty to me. P.S. man powered adventure>motor powered adventure |

Dylan Valvowrote: Nice nice. And your outrage/upset matters because...? Just going to come screech on MP? And are you gatekeeping how people should be allowed to use the Fisher Towers? lol what a Climber. |
|
|
Dylan Valvowrote: Somebody doesn't remember the Chevy ad from the top of nearby Castleton. Climbers were able to spell out a message to aircraft using the lumber left behind. And exactly what "park" are the Fishers in? Oh wait,.. is that Mudpie National Park? |
|

Ron Owrote: For those too young...... |
|

Just because Chevrolet and Charlotte's web used Castleton that way doesn't make it right. Is Disneyland what we really want the desert to turn into? Wingsuit, base, and slackline folks are undeniably bold and skilled, and they can still practice their art without the use of aircraft which undeniably negatively affects a lot of other folks experience. At the end of the day, stuff like this has and does affect me personally. |

Red Bull is probably to blame. Who the F drinks that swampy ass diabetes in a can anyway? |

Ha ha yah agreed that it already is, and it's only going to become more of a zoo. |

i believe there was a crew who rigged an 800m highline up in the fishers. I don't know but climbing the titan with an 800m highline rig along with all of your climbing gear food and water sounds extremely challenging. especially when a group of 8 are rigging the highline and only two of them are capable of climbing the titan. so with out the helicopter this probably would not have happened. so they took the chance and did it. I think its awesome. the helicopter wasn't there all day. just a quick in and out dropping off gear and people, then on his way. but haters are gone hate and be jealous. did this helicopter coming in actually effect any climbers? were any laws broken? did it cause any damage? let me know. and I'm guessing most of you guys complaining have never rigged a highline, especially one 800 m long. And most of the highline athletes able to cross/send a line like this don't have the climbing skills for the titan. i know the towers are fragile. i know the desert is eroding. so a helicopter probably isn't the best thing to have so close to the towers, but i think it was rad. |

So it is true that longer is better? I want to go run some rivers in Nepal, I'm gonna hire a helicopter to help me through all the hard spots because I'll never be good at class V rapids. |

Mikey Clarkwrote: Go rig the highline between two sky scrapers if they need all the accoutrements of the rich and famous to participate in their "sport". |

M Mwrote: Is longer better? Have you climbed el cap? They don’t need help sending the Highline. They needed help getting to the anchors. Just like your gonna need help when you enter and exit your float trip. |
