My old patagonia ascensionist 45 is wearing out (from all the ski edge cuts in the sides). It never did carry skis well.

I loved the suspension, but didn't love the way it carried ropes (no good top attachment) and skis. Or the tool attachment really.

What are your alls favorite alpine climbing bags that carry skis well?

I have the Hyperlite Ice 70L and the Hyperlite Prism, both can A-frame skis well and are super versatile and durable with great ice carry features.

Blue ice kume 38. It's a ski pack that alpine climbs well other than being highly strippable. It's like a less bulky osprey mutant 38

Agreed. Just did 5 pitches of WI3-4 and barely noticed it on my back. I really like this pack.

Not used the blue ice but I have a millet prolighter 30+10 that is a great little ski pack - can a frame, diagonal carry pretty comfortably. Climbs well, too.

Osprey Mutant 38 is a good all-around option that carries heavy loads very well, including skis.  However, the sides don’t seem particularly durable.  It wouldn’t be be my first choice for abusive climbing/hauling, but it is otherwise fantastic.

The Mammut Trion Nordwand 28 seems like a good option for a smaller, more durable climbing oriented bag that should carry light “approach“ skis reasonably well for a small climbing pack.

+1 for Blue Ice Kume/Yagi. For the price, they are some of the best in the class. I’ve been through about a dozen packs in the last five years and at the price point there’s nothing better I’ve found. If you’re going to pay top dollar, the apocalypse equipment is pretty damn nice

the only issue with CiloGear is that their products are pretty much unobtainable right now. I've spoken with them on the phone, and right now they are only making their ski packs in the "high-end" fabric version, which means they are at a $500+ price point. Their conventional fabric bags (which I have one, and love), are already on the high end at $220+, but basically don't exist right now.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
