Lol.  “Kind of rattled me.”

Very nicely done, Paul.

Reading Paul's article "The Day I Sent Colorblind" for the first time today felt like an incredible wave of sadness and inspiration washing over my soul. What a great human and what a great loss.

His blog post this past June talks about his battle with the disease Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Thanks Brian. Im almost in tears as I was around for the start of this and wasnt aware as to how far it progressed. Additionally, my mom suffers from something similar and I can hear her struggles in this account. Sigh....

I loved Mr. Camhead. I'm reading his book right now, "Wrecks of Human Ambition". We had ongoing conversations uusally centered around what was going on the NRG usually as my wife and I had a house in F'ville for 5 years.

This was a snippet of our last correstponse. We had been talking about "The General" which recently, finally got done.

And yeah, I think the height from the ground will always keep that crack from being an undeniable classic. It's kind of like this other line I've always scoped out at the RRG between Solar Collector and the Gold Coast; it's a huge thin hands crack that runs across the roof of a cave, easily 150 ft long, but it's too high to boulder and too low to lead without sewing up. Bummer.

It's been great conditions here, but unfortunately I've been out of the climbing game for the past month. I came down with some weird stomach/intestine bug (feels kind of like giardia) at Easter, and it really laid me out, had to go to the ER, get emergency IV fluids, then it kicked off something in my back; basically I've been super weak and sick with no idea what it is. And literally the day before I got sick I fell on the last move of what would have been my first v10! It sucks, I just hope I recover soon, Dr's have no idea what this is.

I responded joking about V9.99999999999 but he passed shortly after this. RIP My sympathy to his family, friends.

I count myself lucky enough to have met Paul on a  couple of ocaisions at the new. He left a big impression on me as a newer climber. Ill remember being able to immediately know if he was at the crag simply by whether I could hear his booming laugh and endless stories from many routes away. His energy was infectious. He was a good climber and a great person- I'm sorry for everyone feeling a deep loss from his passing. Rip.
