Metolius Sewn Products Manufacturing Change

I've recently got back into climbing after a five year hiatus, and purchased a couple 120cm Metolius Dyneema slings. One sling was significantly thicker than the other and, upon inspection, I realized it says it was made in Vietnam. I used to like to buy Metolius products because they were made in the U.S., and I liked the thought that I might've been supporting a fellow climber's wage.

Does anyone know when they made the shift to overseas manufacturing? Also, the fact that the sling is 3x thicker than the version I'm used to kinda makes me worried that something is off in its manufacturing process. In addition to the thickness, the weave is also off, causing it to take a wavy shape.

Anyone have a similar experience? Or know of any other companies that still make sewn products in U.S.A.?

Why don’t you ask Metolius?

Pretty sure bluewater and sterling both make all their stuff in the U.S. still (ropes, slings, cord), and pretty sure that metolius still make all their own hardware in U.S. but have soft goods made overseas.

Using another source for information (google, manufacturer, etc) would probably be a good idea and apply to half of the questions on MP. No debate there.

However, It is a Climbing Gear Discussion forum so why do we care? It's directly related to climbing and gear. Dumber things get posted.
