Is this a feature, can it be if not? 

There is no going back

I asked the same question years ago. If a back button was good enough for our ancestors, a back button is good enough for us. Same with hexes

In all seriousness, it’s a long overdue feature. 

It is in fact a feature on my iPhone while navigating routes. 

Ah, yes! But not in the forums I don’t think. 

I don’t usually use the app for forums but I just played with it and I keep trying to swipe to go back. Lol. That is a bit annoying.
