Mark Rothwrote: Pretty sure there'll be room! I'm shaking down the maybes this week. Car is a plus! Helen |
Steve Williamswrote: Got it worked out? It's getting down to it, now! Is that the kitty in question for your profile pic? Nice calico! My cat is just shut in the house, when I'm gone, but my son checks in now and then. Best, Helen |

The van just has 2 front seats, it was a Cargo van. There is a Platform bed built into the back. I think Diane Venture from CA will be in an SUV. Either sleeping in that or in a tent. Going to "Ten Sleep" in WY next week with some younger friends so hoping to get in shape for City of Rocks. Jill |
Jill Lawrencewrote: That's an "RV" now, per park rules, so I left you and Diane each as as RV. We look to be fine, yay! Best, Helen |
Old lady Hwrote: IMPORTANT! If you are on the "maybe" list above, pin it down SOON, or, you will have to make your own arrangements at City of Rocks RV (they have tent sites also, dunno what's available), or whatever you can shake down. I can't hold spots when others are asking. That said, if you do end up elsewhere, you are still part of this, so don't be shy! (Don't let me be shy, either. As outgoing as I may seem.... it's still tough working out this people thing. I'm working on it, though!) If you are on the Breadloaves group camp list, I'll ve emailing sometime this week to confirm, and to get arrival dates. :-) |

This is a 'bummer', that I haven't encountered before. Hopefully someone in this group can point me in the right direction. I'm trying to rent a car from Salt Lake for the September COR get-together and I'm being blocked from renting because I am not between 26-70. Any ways around this--probably paying lots of $, I guess. Alan Rubinwrote: That's crazy, never heard of it before. Maybe call the Salt Lake AARP, ask if they know what this is about? Keep calling different agencies, I guess, maybe ones that aren't at the airport might be better? Or talk to a travel agent, on your end, if they still exist? If all else fails, let me know your arrival/departure times and I'll pop down and get you. Best, Helen |
Helen is crazy nice like that. Might also be able to connect with someone from or going through SLC to the get-together |

Thank you very much, especially Helen for the offer for a ride and Terry for the link. I am going to try to sort this out today, when I get a break from that pesky thing known as work. |
Alan Rubinwrote: Hey Alan, I guess you're over 70. I've run into this and what I do is make a "typographical error" when entering my birthdate or age. Never had a problem. |
Thanks Bob. I guess I'm too much a 'goody two-shoes' to do that, especially as getting caught could effect my professional license. |

Hey, I'm just back from a quick visit to COR, but now I'll be honed in on our gathering! Coming up fast! Those of you who were there last time, will maybe recognize Sam. He is back off to school, life, and climbing, not in that order, lol! He graciously rope gunned up Private Idaho, and gave me a belay, yesterday morning, before I had to hustle back to Boise, and he to other obligations. I had him stop me on the lower, when I got about head height. Yup, he really is that tall....and I really is that short. He overshot the lower, so it's even worse, lol! I'll be talking to all of you soon!!! Best, Helen |
Is anyone staying past the 21st? I could get there by the night of the 19th & could stay a few days if anyone wants a belay in exchange for a belay. |

Just now saw this. I'm tempted. I'm recently retired and a trip to the city might be just the ticket, assuming weather and wildfires cooperate. I have a Tundra with a canopy. I did build a bed platform back there the rangers might not like. But I'm also familiar with the free BLM camping above Smokey Mountain Campground. I love the City, so many fun moderates down there! My Tundra on a road trip to Moab: Chad and me, top of Morning Glory Spire a year ago: |

Mark Frumkinwrote: Mark, I arrive on the 21st, leaving on the 28th. Will be in the Smoky Mtn. Campground. |
Mark Frumkinwrote: Also, I believe Brandt will be there a bit longer. Bob and Brandt are great! And, I expect at least some of us would have the morning of the 22. Let me know asap, but unless the "maybes" commit RIGHT NOW, there are two car/tent spots available at the group site. If you're in a vehicle they consider an RV, I dunno if we can squeak you into the group site or not. But, I think we can find you a spot, somewhere! H. EDIT to add Fucking post limit is idiotic. Mark Webster your pickup and canopy is not considered an RV, so you could be in any tent/car site. There are two spots at the moment, for car/tent peeps only, at the group camp. Let me know asap! H. |

I will be leaving on the 23rd. My last climbing day will be the 22nd, hopefully with Bob. Mark, we should be able to get in a day or two before I leave. |
Old lady Hwrote: So the group spot is at Breadloaves? If so that's much more convenient than the rocky road to BLM. I'll commit. I haven't read the whole thread. Do I need to send you money or what? I'll be happy to climb with anyone. I've led most of the moderates down there. I'm also a landscape painter...so lots of fun things to do in the city. |
Mark Websterwrote: Okay, I'll add you to the group list! What are your arrival/departure dates? You'll also be getting a pm shortly. I'm getting that out to everyone today to build a fast contact list. Best, Helen |
