How to Watch Olympic Climbing (No Spoilers)

But of a cluster with the other threads. My mistake. Sounds like it could be helpful to have a no spoilers thread for the next couple of days for those having trouble figuring out how to watch it. I’ll delete my other thread to avoid the redundancy.

I just started watching Men's Speed Qualifiers and my 30 minute NBC trial ended so I'm getting Peacock. I also heard somebody say you can go through Japan's broadcasting station with a VPN set to Japan. Even with the spoiler tag on the last post I saw some results when scrolling through trying to see how best to watch, a little annoying.

This is the link to the broadcast from Japan -  en.sports.nhk.or.jp/olympic…

I don't think they will post qualifiers but i think you could watch the main events for free if you have a VPN that you can set to Japan. I think there's also a way to watch from a Canadian station but I'm not sure.

Just got Peacock, the app seems useless, I can't continue to watch the speed qualifiers there nor anything else so far. Does anybody know if I can do it if I pay for premium? I'm fine paying, just want to watch.

Okay, through Canada with a VPN set to Canada I can see all of the events here, they have the whole qualifier event here  - https://www.cbc.ca/player/sports/olympics/sport%20climbing

Has anybody had success with Peacock premium for those who don’t have access to a VPN? Otherwise it seems like a VPN with Canada’s broadcast seems to be a good way to go.

I can confirm that Peacock Premium doesn’t have the qualifiers. I got a membership to Fubo.tv as well in the hope it would allow me to record the event, but I can’t seem to find the climbing qualifiers on any of the NBC channels. I saw someone mention that USA was airing them, so maybe I can snag it there.

Only US site I’ve found with a clear link to the recording so far is NBC Sports, but they require a cable subscription to log in.

FWIW, Good luck! I’ve been jumping around between apps trying to find  coverage myself. I’d second the NBC Sports app.

I don't know if it's what you're looking for but if you search for "climbing" on the Fubo app it pops up a few options.

Thanks! It looks like the USA broadcasts are available for recording there. Not necessarily everything for the qualifiers, but better than nothing!

NBC has the replays, but you need a subscription to watch more than 30 minutes (total). They let you skip around so you can just use your free 30 mins to watch your favorite climbers. There's also infinite ads and the camera work sucks so it's definitely doable.

If you sign up for a free 14 day trial of Youtube TV, you can use those credentials to log into NBC's olympics site. You can then watch the whole event replay.

This worked for me. Holy crap tho - NBC’s site and commentary is annoying.

Thanks for the reminder holy cow I was going to be charged 64$.

Had to go tv.youtube.com to cancel. Can’t cancel from www.YouTube.com as far as I could tell.

Using Chrome and the hola free vpn extension is working great for me. About 10 hrs of viewing so far. Its real easy to use.

A big thanks to the person in the old thread that posted it.

Does anyone know how to remove the hola vpn from my computer? Even if I end the tasks in task manager before deleting the folder, it still always says unable to delete because file in use (because hola is running). It seems to be slowing down my computer.

Still it was worth it to watch those pros pull on plastic last summer! I gotta say NBC did better this winter with Olympic coverage by allowing full event replays through peacock for $5 per month. Hopefully they do the same for the next summer Olympics and rock climbing events.

You might try checking your Startup Apps to see if you can prevent it from launching in the first place. Then delete right after a reboot. In the worst case you can boot in Safe Mode.

Which browser did you install it onto? Have you tried uninstalling this extension?
