I have heard rumors of a massive wind storm that hit this area… I hear there are hundreds of down trees possibly impacting the trail to big Sandy lake. Wondering if anyone has any information on this, particularly regarding the East Fork trail?

Are you heading for the East Fork Valley?

What about the road getting to the parking lot?  If I recall, it does cut through some wooded areas towards the end.

Hi Brandon,

Just curious.  What routes do you have in mind for the East Fork Valley?

The best source for trail conditions is The Great Outdoor Shop in Pindale:

The blowdown and blizzard of last fall created a lot of impacts - as well as rescues.  Even NOLS groups had to be rescued.

Did M buttress last time. Hoping to do Raid, Great gray book, a few are doing your route on ambush, Becky route on ambush, golden dihedrals, plaisar to the staircase, one group might do ITTIA. We will have 6 days climbing in there with a group of 8 so a huge spread of routes! Stoked to get back. Such a magical place.
