Climbing has TRULY gone mainstream now!

I work for Big Tech and had to take my annual compliance training. One of the HR sections about harassment in the work place used a cartoon scenario about a rock climber free soloing some lump of a rock, right behind a posted sign reading "No climbing." They were making a point about boundaries. The climber is wearing crack gloves and maybe a chalkbag? He can't send and has to be helped down by the Host. If one of you here are responsible for this I have to say, THANKS! I got a laugh out of it. |

Jim Twrote: The state of California is known by the state of California to cause cancer though. Damn near everything has a prop 65 warning these days because the standards are a joke. |

M Mwrote: Apparently whoever set the harness up for that shot twisted the belay loop, flipped the legs upside down and then clipped them into the leg loop retainer clips. Really instils confidence. |

M Mwrote: See my above comment. Looks like they still managed to screw this up even if just for the photo. |

Parachute Adamswrote: Your left or my left? |

M Mwrote: It's because the left and right leg loops are switched. |

Christopher Smithwrote: For real. I'm surprised we don't see prop 65 tattoos on people's upper lips. |

Christopher Smithwrote: Yeah I bet those buckles on the leg loops are really comfy in that orientation :-) |

Because, you know, I always get it wrong.
Wait a minute... M Mwrote: Annnnnd sure enough, they clipped the leg loops to the wrong side of the waist. |

I personally can’t wait to be decked out in all Walmart brand climbing gear |

The Walmart at the New River Gorge has a climbing section too. Between that and having to wade through several pages of climbing gear on Amazon search results to get to UIAA-approved stuff, I’m pretty sure some Dunning-Kruger type is going to get killed soon. |

^^^^^^which appears to make the left leg loop the right leg loop....huh |

Maybe that “Cliffhanger” harness buckle scene will actually play out for real. |

Christopher Smithwrote: Or maybe too many things contain carcinogens, even things that don’t need to. And CA has balls. TBH, not sure what the truth is about the harness but I know that my shampoo doesn’t need to cause cancer but the mfr disagrees. And the U.S., and the state of Colorado in particular have little to no consumer protection laws. If you’re buying a used car in Colorado, you better make sure you know from where it came and what problems are lurking, because CO allows cars to be sold with problems that most other states would not allow to be sold without disclosure. Which is why these cars are shipped here and dumped in our market. |

You all know that if Walmart draws are rated and proven to work well you’re gonna buy em and use em....bail biners for everyone. El cap will be sent with a Wallyworld rack mark my words |

Yeah, Right. I went by Sports Basement (like REI, but more basement and balls ). They changed the floor plan and I asked were the climbing section was and they said that it was permanently gone from that store. This is a big store. |

Amazon has some truly horrifying stuff: |
