I made some climbing themed clothes
|
|
Full Disclosure: Primary reason for this post is feedback on/ promoting these clothes some friends and I made Earlier this year, me and a couple friends I climb with frequently decided to try and make some cool climbing themed clothes. We decided on the theme, Climbers in Space. Anyways, ended up turning it into an actual business. Payed one of my climbing buddies to help make the art, I made the embroidery setups, and we produce them in house here in Morgantown, WV. We also had a brief foray into resoling but axed that after a few months because we couldn't work the margins. For those interested: here are some pics. Also, as this is the MP forums, feel free to flame these and tear them apart lol. Thats me! ^^ Our Website: |

What does "almost always made in the usa" mean? I have a friend that "started a sock company" by which I mean buying cool sock designs in bulk premade in china for cheap, and sold them for a ridiculous markup. Not cool in my book. For what it's worth I like the designs themselves. |

That's the apparel business in a nutshell. Gross margins 55-70% are the norm. Given return rates in apparel are obscenely high as well (some business see return rates as high as 50%!!!) the gross margins have to be higher to account for returns and end of season markdowns. |

I Fwrote: Good question. To be honest, it irked me that I had to put it there. Everything we have is made in the USA except for our socks. I have yet to find a US sock factory that produces blanks I like yet. For everything else, we purchase blanks from USA factories and embroider them in Morgantown, WV ourselves. We also embroider the socks ourselves. The only reason why we can't put made in the USA for the socks is because we are embroidering on nikes which are not made in the USA. On every individual item we say whether it is made in the USA or not for what its worth. Once I find a good sock supplier stateside, everything will be made in the usa |

Love the designs. Would be stoked if they were in patch or sticker form. |
