Well, sure the video is creepy, more so in the way he “fondles” the rope and bolt with knife and hammer  without really doing anything.  But it is also potentially a boon to any law enforcement action.  Not sure what the legalities and particulars are of the knife and cuffs, but I’m pretty sure the brass knuckles under the cuffs are a felony in California.   And while a knife in a backpack in a National Park is likely legal, there are no legal circumstances for knuckles

If this video Shawn took was in California, criminal endangerment charges could certainly be brought against him. The problem with most crimes is the need for someone to accuse him and someone willing to prosecute him. The authorities need someone local to press charges immediately. Seems like the guys he criminally endangered would be the likely candidates to file charges.

That was one of the most psychopathic things I've ever watch. This dude is a serial killer waiting to be triggered.

Found some young posers in Patagonia shirts abusing the rocks and had to teach them a lesson. Unsafe anchor system was neutralized and the two idiots were left stranded on a ledge. It was an exhausting drive but it was worth it. I probably saved some lives today. The vid is obviously trying to scare you, it doesn't identify the person nor does it explicitly show anything illegal or the context. It means nothing to law enforcement and wouldn't pass muster as evidence. Get a grip.

Lol Ryan does not make a living with his YouTube channel.  He breaks even between donations and what he spends on gear to break.  He ran a painting business until recently which is where he made his living.

Seems there is a self-proclaimed "council" who has decided these bolts need to go. They have also claimed the land as their own (possible claiming Indigenous roots?).

I’ve had this same question.  I certainly hope he doesn’t get support from any of the re-bolting groups.  It’s hard to imagine him holding down a job.

I'm sure Tradiban is just stirring stuff up but he's probably right about the video. Has anyone heard from the two guys Shawn supposedly left stranded on a ledge? Why is the video in three pieces with none of the actual cutting being filmed? Seems like more internet tough guy material from Snyder.

Not really.  Depends on what you think the video represents.  To me it serves as probable cause for any LEO to detain him/investigate for possible felony weapons violations.   Or, serves to bolster any “self defense” claim by others who encounter him.   It does not serve his best interests in any way.

It would be interesting for Shawn to post a coherent defense of his actions or to engage constructively, but history has shown that Tradi is out on a snipe hunt without a headlamp with this one.  I’ll buy him a keg of his favorite beer if he is able to actually do  anything constructive here

Yeah I should have been more specific, in particular I meant he was probably right about "The vid is obviously trying to scare you". The video is obviously not a good look for Shawn, just the weird knife-fondling-rope part alone makes it look like a scene from a campy horror movie. And I think most people would agree that making a video to scare people in this way is not a good way to go about stuff. But I'm not convinced he actually marooned any "Patagonia-wearing posers" on a ledge. It's just part of his fantasy.

If no one has heard from the "posers" left on a ledge, sounds like someone in the area should be out looking for them, or at least contacting local authorities to ask if there are any missing/lost people on their radar. He posted that yesterday, meaning they could still be stranded. You can clearly hear sounds of people in the background, and to me it sounds like someone trying hard on a climb. That anchor was also clearly under tension.

Per the video, Bobby slipped and fell on some Class 3 terrain. Healing vibes, looks like he broke a few bones. Awesome bloody head photos tho.

He's doing Youtube full time, so yes he's making a living doing it. The donations vs channel/gear costs break even. The advertising money isn't included in that.

I don't think ads are going to make THAT much revenue (yet). Dude sold his house (and more) to do these videos full time. He has a sep. investment channel about what he's probably making money on.

That's a possibility, and I agree it's probably the most likely.

But at least some percentage of people with that sort of delusions escalate to making their fantasies into realities, so it seems to wise not to ignore them.
