Lost Crag Kitty-Yosemite
|
|
Our cat, Singa (about one year old), got out while we were camping in spot 124 in the upper pines campground the night of May 17th/morning of May 18th. She usually comes back to us calling her/shaking her food but this time she did not come back. We do not have any more reservations to get into the park so we will not be able to look for her after today. If you find her or see her while in the park please send me a message! |

I wouldn't let a reservation get in the way of finding your child kitty... I'm sure rangers would understand, or worst case scenario could wait till no one is manning the entrance station. I would go look for her asap as there are coyotes in the valley.. |

Sneak in! I truly hope someone saves that cat and gives it a good home. |

As a cat owner, I feel for this person. Depending on the age/size of the cat, it may be able to survive off the mouse/rat population. I would recommend bringing this to the ranger's attention. While they may take a dim view of an escaped cat, they could at least let the campground hosts know to be on the lookout. It's possible the cat wandered into someone else's camp and they took it in. It could be in the SPCA in Mariposa for all you know? |

Fingers crossed that poor thing ended up with better owners. https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/pets.htm "pets must be restrained on a leash not more than six feet long or otherwise physically restrained" |

Crags everywhere: dogs terrorize and annoy and threaten access one cat gets lost: "don't bring a cat"
I sincerely hope you guys find your precious fur child. Wouldn't be surprised if a Yosemite worker didn't find it and take it back to their camp. Might be a good place to look! |

This wasn’t intended as an opinion/discussion post, Daniela and I wanted to use mountain project and the climbing community as a resource to help us return our pet. The fact the people are sitting behind their computers acting like middle school bullies and judging others based off of a four sentence post is pathetic. Daniela and I have spent the better part of 4 days walking around a huge area in Yosemite calling for singa, putting up flyers, talking to campers and campground hosts as well as the wilderness center/Rangers/park employees and finding any way to sleep as close to where we lost singa as possible. Guy, thanks for the incredibly obvious solution of sneaking in, given the illegal nature of your suggestion I don’t think it’s surprising we didn’t advertise that on social media. Bill, what gives you the right to assume we are incapable or bad cat parents? You know nothing about us or how we treat our pet. Keep the self righteous comments to yourselves please. |

A Potterwrote: I wrote it with a smirk and hoped you would receive it with one, too. But you seem offended by it. OK, for a "professional writer," it was just poor English! And unprofessional. Your turn. |

FrankPSwrote: I did not see a smirk. That said...touche, Frank. You caught me in a moment of weakness. I try to write to the level of my audience ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I just want this cute little cat to be found and reunited with its family. Because, you know, I've fought it long enough...CATS RULE, DOGS DROOL!!! |

The thread should be re-titled, “Shout Out to All the Sanctimonious Assholes.” |

Hi there! Yosemite local here! Can you provide some details as to what attracts your cat (food or treats). I'll keep and eye out for the kitty and will let locals know as well ! Best, Michelle |
|

Note: You can move freely in and out of the park after hours. Hunting for a kitten at night with a flashlight might be good. You can spot their eyes from very far away like reflectors. |

Michelle Seawrote: Hi Michelle, Thank you so much! We have her food (just the kibble type) in an old plastic peanut butter container and shake it and that usually does the trick. Also calling out “Sing-ah” in a high pitched tune. She also loves tuna! Again, thanks a million! |

Spider Savagewrote: Note: This is not true unless by "freely" you mean, "illegally." Though you can physically get into the park when there's no one working at the gate, entering without a day use pass is illegal and subject to fines. Additionally, no one, except for those who live in the park, can be in the park after 11pm or before 5am without a camping reservation. This will be in place until the end of Sept. |
