Hi All, I'm trying to put together a list of 46ers that can be climbed to the summit. Currently my list is: Quality 5th class: - Gothics
- Mt. Marcy
- Big slide
- Mt. Colden via Wine Bottle
Just a small amount of 5th: - Wright Peak, The Hole 5.8 1p
- Giant
4th Class: - Basin
- Dix
- Mt. Colden
- Giant (again)
?? - Upper Wolfjaw maaaybe
- Porter maaaaybe
What else? I'd love some input. I can't seem to find a list anywhere because obviously hiking to the top of a 46er is the same as climbing it.

It certainly looks like there is some good potential for routes just below the summit of Giant?

I've heard if you chant "Mudrat" 3 times while 'shwaching through krummholz by headlamp, the answer to this question will appear. I think the bottle slide on giant goes at 5.5 so that might put it in the "just a little 5th class" department. Would be pretty masochistic but definitely stuff on haystack. Haha but seriously, us mortals can make guesses all day but Mudrat is THE guy to talk to.

I actually PM'ed him after posting this, haha. Thanks Adam. I'll update Giant above to match your comment

This doesn’t answer your question, but Snowy Mtn. is the highest mountain outside the High Peaks region (actually higher than Nye & Couchsachagra, both which were originally thought to be above 4000 ft) and has an awesome summit cliff that can be climbed to the summit, albeit with some scraggly top pitches and a little bit of bushwhacking. Just in case you’re looking for more adventure elsewhere.

The climbing on Mt Wright is on a sub summit, and isn’t used to gain elevation toward the summit of Mt Wright. You would have go off the trail to the cliff, climb this pitch, walk off back to the trail and continue on your way. It’s a diversion. if you want a list of peaks with some climbing somewhere on them, I’m sure the list is large.

Jim, I guess I'm looking for 46ers that contain climbing that will bring you significantly on your way up to the summit. I'm more than okay with some post-climb bushwhacking to get to the peak. I created the category for "Just a small amount of 5th" in order to separate these from the "Quality 5th" category, which is the category that I am realistically looking to fill in / explore this season. I definitely used AdRock 1 to make this list so far, so thank you

I have only been up Giant once but it sure looked to me that there was a significant ammount of rock just below the summit. looked like several full pitches to me.

Not a 46'er but noonmark. And Whiteface (some of the ski slides can be ascended via 4th and 3rd class)
