Hi y'all! I am heading to Keystone, CO area to do some snowboarding & ice climbing. I have been ice climbing and guiding for a few years and all over the country, except for Colorado. A few of my friends who are not ice or rock climbers asked me to take them for the first time. I was looking for some tips to some areas that I can go to that will allow me to set up an anchor at the top and then walk down, since they don't know how to lead belay (I will be belaying the whole time, no actual ice climbing for me).

If you are at keystone, then head to Lincoln: https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105744524/hoosier-passlincoln-fall .  You can toprope the pillar and some of the other flows.

This is your best option in the area.

Fair warning though, it is quite popular and you can expect crowds almost any time. People are friendly though so it is usually not a big problem! Just something to be aware if, especially if you are shepherding a big group :)

Galveston?! I graduated from PT school there a couple years ago. I miss the island sometimes.

Agree with the posts above about lincoln. Also throwing in East Vail Falls as a suggestion. Won't be too far from keystone. Been to both places a couple of times and Vail has always been a bit less busy. Enjoy!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
