Hey everyone, climbing is getting kind of boring for me and I was hoping that doing some FAs would get the juices flowing again.  Anyone know any lines that I could bag, or areas with lots of potential?  Trad/real climbing only, please.  Thanks in advance!

Go to Yosemite, hike in any direction for an hour, FA possibilities abound.

Go to kentucky and start walking the hollars far away from the parking lot, or drive to NorthWestern Ontario and look up, or go to Wyoming and just pick a mountain range...so many options.

If you are bored, FA’s might not be for you. They often involve going to the same spot repeatedly to establish a route. Many times, you may try something out that looks good, but turns out to be  a disappointment. It can be a lot of work. However, for the person who enjoys adventure mixed with the hit and miss nature of the process, the rewards can be immense, and the memories unforgettable.

Go find them, that’ll keep you busy and remove some boredom! Use binoculars, google earth, go hiking, etc.

I know this line up in western idaho i didn't have any wide gear to climb it. Its a nice 80 foot granite splitter.

Local to you any of the pillars from section 104 to 138 await a FA.

SoFi next door just opened up a whole bunch of new lines.

I’m willing to bet there is a path up plumbers crack that hasn’t been done.

Best of luck.  Have fun and be safe.

How will I know if I found a possible FA? Can you tell from there being no chalk on it?

It doesn't get any more "real" than this place.  And if you prefer some other rock types the Grand Canyon continues on for another 200 miles or so after Glen.

Probably! If its not in the books it surely must be an open project. Also definitely don't ask around, that would show a weakness, just do it!

The basic rule is: if you can climb it, it's never been done before, if you can't climb it, it's been done before.

I heard that South Mount Woodson has LOADS of new FA's waiting to go up

You live in California, you have an endless supply of FA’s if you are willing to explore a little.   In the past few years I’ve found 3 new areas and established tons of routes.   There is still a ton of potential in Southern California, you just need to look around.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
