The Black Diamond Notion pants (https://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/womens-pants-shorts/notion-pants-women%27s-APGL08_cfg.html) are absolutely the most durable pair of climbing pants I’ve ever owned. I’ve ripped multiple pairs of leggings and La Sportiva climbing pants, but these ones just seem to be indestructible.

I've always loved climbing in leggings for the comfort and flexibility but after ripping holes in two pairs from rocks the past two weekends I believe its time to start climbing in something a little bit more durable. What's your favorite pants/leggings for climbing that is comfortable and flexible while also being able to withstand rubbing against rocks (bonus if also affordable!)?

Thanks!

Hi, I recently bought a pair of leggings for my girlfriend at https://ultive.com , she is in love with her leggings.

I think the best climbing pants I own are from CREAG. They are going out of business and are having a big sale, so I bought a pair of their pants and took them chimney climbing. I loved them so much that I immediately bought another pair. They are lightweight, flexible, comfortable, and seem to be really durable too (not a single pill or scuff from the chimney climb). My favorite part about them is that the waistband is elastic at the top and doesn't feel uncomfortable under a harness, which is a problem I've had with the Prana Halle pants. They are reinforced at the knee, butt, and bottom of the legs, and have a zipping pocket. I highly, highly recommend these pants. This brand also makes leggings but I have not tried them. Link

I have been climbing in Prana Halle pants for years. I finally wore holes in them this spring, but they are super durable and dry quickly. My only complaint is that the drawstring sometimes hurts my hips when I'm wearing a harness or backpack waist strap over it loaded with heavy trad gear all day, and I wish they were higher-waisted. Link

I bought the Carhart leggings from a recommendation on this thread and I've liked them a lot. I haven't put them through the wringer like the Prana Halle pants and they are slightly stiff, but seem to be really durable. My only real complaint is that there are no zipping pockets. Looks like they make them in different weights now, but I have the midweight I think. I'd recommend these overall, especially as a lower-cost option and a leggings option. Link

sadly, my favorite climbing pants (Prana Alana jogger and Kanab pants) no longer fit me - selling some XS and one S pair here if anyone is interested! Also love the Backcountry Double Dyno pant, they are somewhat similar to the Mtn Hardwear Dynama or Prana Alana.

I've been recently keen on the OR Wadi Rum Joggers and E9's Onda/Onda Slim. Leggings are usually a personal favorite but do not provide enough warmth for some cold desert climbing.

I have the Patagonia hemp climbing pants. They are fabulous! Very comfy, very durable.

I am a huge fan of La Sportiva Mantra Pants. The elastic bands run a little small, I had to stretch the band on a chair :)

Some friends started this website. Gear reviews are starting with (and focusing on) pants.
