Shits we judge other climbers for

The helmet mounted go pro bro. |

To that guy wearing cowboy boots, cowboy hat, floral print board shorts, pastel blue t-shirt, blasting Green Day from a speaker on his pack while walking across the base of Devil's Glen at the 2017 Beaver Valley Climbing Festival: Yes, I was judging you. And I'm not sorry. Also, the PAS thong... But that horse has been beaten to death... |

Wearing new clothes/gear. It is so dumb to judge other climbers. I feel bad for assuming the folks not wearing duct tape patches are soft. But I do. |

Zach Dwrote: I have actually searched for video of a v2 climb because I couldn’t figure out what tf was going on in my early days. I found one and it was helpful. |

Zach Dwrote: I want to put in a plug for Ashley Swanson’s YouTube channel which features videos of climbs from V0 to V6 or so. It’s really helpful to see cool problems that I can actually climb. Gives me ideas of places I want to go. I like Mellow too. But double digits are going to have to wait for another reincarnation :-( |

I simply judge other climbers on whether I am willing to talk to them or even be near them. That's pretty much it. I barely pay any attention to other climbers activities unless I know them. Some dumb shit could go down with the party right next to me and there's a good chance I would not notice. I'd add that these new social distancing norms were already normal for me, so its not like I want to hang out with, you know, strangers or large groups of anyone, climbers included. |

|
I only judge other climbers based on religeous views, politics, and their appearance. |

People acting like they're better than you or that you'll take forever because your newer to climbing...not being humble |

I forgot the most important one: People who take these threads seriously. I’m now judging all the people who attempt to defend the shitz mentioned in this thread, because they are clearly engaging in the above-mentioned shitz. |
|
|
People who don't understand gym etiquette and constantly snake folks in the lineup, or choose to do things like 4x4's on popular walls at peak hours People who climb in a way that is unnecessarily dangerous to those around them, or, again, don't have the slightest understanding of crag etiquette and display this ignorance in spades. |

the pad people, for just about everything they do |

Lena chitawrote: Yes. And add, anyone who takes themselves too seriously. |

The problem isn't judging people. Making judgements is a normal and essential part of interpreting the world around you. The problem is letting those judgements dictate your actions without recognizing that the information you have is limited. Next thing you know, you're starting threads on MP about the shirtless beanie bro with his oversized solutions over socks with the price tags still on his BD pants and all you hear is blasting house music while his friends are all yelling "come on dude, you got this bro!" and...wait what was I saying? |
