Dogs - can they scramble up to Trout Creek?

How dog friendly is the terrain getting to and navigating the base of the climbs at Trout Creek? Seems like it could be pretty full value for a dog. My dog scrambles D2 maybe D3 on a good day.

I am not asking for information on general dog/rock climbing ethics, I have successfully completed the AMGA crag dog clinic and I do goat yoga.

I wouldn't bring my dog up there.  There are a lot of toppled over columns scattered all over the place which makes the base pretty rough for animals.

Depends how much you like the dog.

you will want to have a plan for this.  the rock surface of the toppled columns is pretty slick for their feet and there are a ton of deep gaps.  with a little harness and a short piece of rope you can do some short-roping.  one of the logistical problems is that the number of "staging areas" is kind of limited.

Don't do it. Having your dog get hurt up there would really suck for you and the animal. Also, nobody wants to be in super-close quarters with your dog given the lack of room at the base of those routes (as others have mentioned).

Depends on the dog, definitely more involved with a larger breed.  There are a bunch of spots where you will need to pick them up and still negotiate consequential terrain yourself.  Seems much more difficult with a big dog from what I’ve seen up there.  If they tend to wander around on their own there’s a bunch of holes they could potentially fall in.

Cool, this is what I figured but I didn’t know if there was something I was missing while just looking at photos. Thanks.

I have nothing against well behaved dogs at the crag, but please don’t bring a pup to Trout. I’ve heard of at least one story of a dog falling down in between the columns in the boulder field at the base (some of the gaps go down a long ways).

According to the story, they couldn’t get the dog out.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
