Edit: Got the frame, now looking for components for the build. Specifically looking for:

  • Shimano derailleur for 11-42 cassette (anything SLX or better)
  • 165 mm crankset (Shimano or compatible); ideally looking for a 30t chainring but could be open to 32t; for a 73mm threaded bottom bracket (also looking for bb)
  • 1 trp hy/rd post-mount brake
  • Also looking for handlebars, stem, saddle...experimenting with fit for these, so don't want to spend too much at the moment. I'm a small person, so the smaller the better, probably :) Ideally looking for handlebars that will accommodate a range of hand positions.

There’s a 2018 XS Fargo for sale on eBay now...

How tall are you? I’ve got a small, not an xs.

I'm 5'1.5'' (27.5'' inseam and 4'10'' wingspan) so sadly I think the S is still too big :(

Alternatively, if someone has a xs/s frame in the elusive 26+ tire size (e.g. Jamis Dragonfly, or a 27.5 frame that can handle 26x3 tires) I'm also potentially open to that. I have yet to find any other 27.5+ frames that would fit me well--the Surly ECR is tempting, but I think a smidge bigger than ideal even in the XS size.

That ebay bike is close enough to MSRP that at that point I'd rather just buy a new frame at full cost and put together the bike I want...

There is a good Salsa/Surly fb group as well, maybe try there.

Bump--after looking more closely at geometry/sizing, expanding the search to include the Surly ECR (XS), Surly Karate Monkey (XS), Santa Cruz Chameleon (S), or Felt Surplus (14'') as well.

Bump. Got the frame (Surly ECR XS), now looking for components to build it out--specifically:

  • Shimano derailleur for 11-42 cassette (anything SLX or better)
  • 165 mm crankset (Shimano or compatible); ideally looking for a 30t chainring but could be open to 32t; for a 73mm threaded bottom bracket (also looking for bb)
  • 1 trp hy/rd post-mount brake, rotors (180 mm & 160 mm)
  • Also looking for handlebars, stem, saddle...experimenting with fit for these, so don't want to spend too much on these components at the moment. I'm a small person, so the smaller the better, probably :) Ideally looking for handlebars that will accommodate a range of hand positions.

Bump: currently looking for -

  • Shimano XT 11-speed derailleur, medium cage. (Open to XTR at a good price)
  • 160 or 165 mm crankset (Canfield cranks would be ideal, but open to others)
  • 1 trp hy/rd post-mount brake
  • Handlebar bag for jones loop bars; small seatpost bag; water bottle cages; open to other frame storage components too!
