I think they're out of production. People use them for lead rope soloing (?). I'm pretty sure they use a centrifugal clutch kinda like the auto-belays used by gyms.

I'm not sure anyone knows how to troll post anymore. They seem to think making mean outbursts fit the bill, but that's America for ya.

This is no ruse.  I am giving back to the community in more ways than one.

I think MP has turned into Reddit. The troll posts and angry rude and horrible people on this forum have changed the way I see the climbing community. We don’t need any more troll posts. I’m truly sad how keyboard warriors have somehow done more to damage the spirit of climbing than all the individual actual climbers have in the previous 30 years combined. None of you are real. You’re all fake complainers. In real life when I go to the crag, everyone is kind and accommodating and happy. This entire forum and most online forums are the birthplace and breading ground of the worst viruses and scum that only exist in an unhealthy humans imagination. I don’t believe that any of you guys are as horrible or brave or violent as you claim in your posts. Why can’t you all just be as awesome as you actually are when I meet you at the crag? I’m tired of all of this. You all hurt my heart and even though you won’t admit it you’re hurting your own hearts as well. None of this is healthy, we are all destroying ourselves for a moment to expel the poison we hold inside. I know we are better. I can feel your kindness and love when I see you all in person. This all has to stop.

Not even close. Reddit is solely gumbys supporting gumbys. Ateast here the learned voices prosper. Hell, when all pics are top roped 5.6 sport routes with 5 star ratings I'll definitely reconsider though.

Ever consider that those kind accommodating people at the crag are just waiting to go home to post up a thread about how much the crag day sucked because  they had to deal with climber x doing xyz and were too conflict-adverse to do it in person?

Because, to get free advice from experienced people at the lowly cost of minor trolling is well worth the cost. I actually "troll" more in person than on here. I don't see how people can act like the temperament on here hasn't kept away most of the rabble you see on other sites. 

Thanks to the hard work of our internet heroes we have a site that, until recently anyway, provides satire and information on pertinent climbing topics.

Wait though, that's mostly the rude people, right? I totally agree the culture warring and keyboard heroes make it look like we're all asshats. But the trolls? Like, are Tradiban's alts the problem? They're just providing the space for the rude folks to melt down all over their computer screens, right? 

It was my understanding that a troll post is just disingenuously saying something that could set people off. Being the angry rude people is taking that bait and running with it.
