Smoke's so bad out here. I miss cathedral ledge. |

I see no issue with what they did (legally at that). |

Was that an Old Town Penobscot? I’m sure you could do the traverse faster in a Wenonah MN II. |

Ill bite, no banners do not belong hanging down cliff faces across our natural areas in the U.S., regardless of their message or intent. Leave nature wild, find a billboard for your message. |
If you're OK with displaying a Trump 2020 banner, too, then at least you're being consistent with your principles. Personally, I think none of that should be at the crag. |

Political message aside, they took it down at the end of the day and left no trace. Similar to you cleaning up your yard sale and hammock at the base of the cliff. Also they brought a canoe across the highline anchors. Fucking badass. |
As long as you are sitting next to your banner, and it is a rare occurrence, I am fine with it. Pack in, pack out. The flag left on "the roof" in the north end needs to be removed. |

Temporary displays without damaging rock, vegetation, etc.: have at it. Permanent displays: hard no. Leave it to the respective land managers and local community to decide what constitutes a temporary and appropriate location. Not trying to advocate for a billboard situation here. Next. |

Well, people have been displaying the Estelada all across Catalunya for quite some time now, including on hilltops and draped or painted across all kinds of rock. This has never bothered me when climbing there. Adds some color to the landscape. |

I mean, I guess as long as you stay out of the way, allow others to protest their perspective, and aren't too loud that climber/belayer can't hear each other. |
PWZwrote: well now you are going to need a committee to decide what messages are appropriate to put up. |

PWZwrote: Except half of America recognizes acts of goodwill as political endorsements. The author kinda assumes crags belong to climbers but North Conway crags can be seen from the road by hikers or just people driving by so treating it as just a crag is oversimplification. I feel like protesting there is like protesting in your city park. |
