Yesterday with the rain on the West side of the valley, I was exploring some new terrain to me on the East side of Flathead Lake. I found what looks to be some good rock, but curious if anyone has ever climbed there, hiked to it, or knows anything about it. Here are the areas:
Big Fork: where Bridge Street meets with 35, just to the East of that intersection is a hunk of rock behind some houses. Doesn't look like any public access, but I didn't know if the entire road on the backside of it was private or county. 48.053060, -114.070823
Woods Bay: Up in the hills to the East of town are some hunks of rock that you can catch glimpses of. I found them on Google Earth, and tried all of the roads to get there, but they are all gated/private. It looks like you can access it from the Swan Valley, hiking/biking into Estes Lake area and getting to them from there. Anyone been up in these parts? I was planning on hiking in from Swan in a couple of weeks, who knows what I might find!
Hunk of rock about 2000' SW of Estes Lake, 48.000935, -114.034958 Rock scattered WNW to NNW of Estes Lake, 48.012850, -114.032760
Cheers!

I've heard rumor of some rock around the Bear Dance Trail south of Woods Bay, but nothing beside that. Curious to hear about what you find!

I climbed at the location you mention near the Bridge Street intersection years ago, like about 1977 or 78? Was one of the only "developed" places around at the time. In truth it was probably top roping only. Other places cropped up, like Somers Dump and Kila and the place was forgotten. I see there are houses there now. I doubt worth another look personally.
Up above Woods Bay there are a few bolted climbs from years past with maybe a bit more potential. Cougar Canyon, just to the north looks way more enticing, its very wild in there as far as treacherous walking and few legal access points. I have wandered there looking for routes but have passed due to the work involved and chossy nature. But I have passed on other areas in the Flathead that are now considered popular, so who knows?

I have checked out most of those cliffs. I decided against it because it basically looked like a bit better Kila which I am not a fan of. I poached just to check them out thinking if they were good I would find better access. There is a maybe a sick cliff over by the kayaker take out for the meadow creek gorge ;) I had lots of plans to bolt the big steep wall in bad rock with glue ins. The angle is sick but it would have probably needed help with holds as it is a bit chossy and I wasn't about to be known as a montana chipper although I swear there are is a route or two at stone hill with some suspect pockets.

Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. I did get up there the other day and hiked in to the rock that was outlined as being SW of Estes Lake. Easy ATV trail for 1.5 miles to Estes Lake, then a single track for .25 miles, then bushwacking for the other .25 miles. The rock looks less chossy than Kila, but would need a lot of cleaning up around the base to be able to access it. There appear to be a couple of trad lines, and maybe up to 5-6 sport routes that could go in. They aren't tall climbs, but something there none-the-less. I opted to not hike in to the further north rocks as I was already too hot in the middle of the day.

About 40-70 feet, depending on where you would be at. Pretty short, but could be a great fall evening with the sun setting over Flathead.

Bad rock has three bolted routes, one with permadraws - anyone here know FA or grade of those routes? Not exactly related to Woods Bay or Bigfork but I was just curious if anyone here had insight on them.

Two of the very hard routes were put up in 2015(ish) by Jed Hoff. I know one is called Fibonacci Sequence and goes at 12-ish. The one that's harder than that I believe still does not have an FA. Not sure who did the dry tool route and apparently there's a bolted 5.4 up there somewhere.

Interesting. Did these get put up on the big face above the bouldering in Bad rock or one of the satellite cliffs? Or is this on the other side of the river? I always wondered if people would start bolting there. Has anyone done the steep boulder right by the road? Its kind of highball and I figured v9 or 10. A steep crimp line.

The routes I mentioned are right above the road and are 30 ft. tall at best. As far as I know, there is nothing on the big face ... but routes are popping up everywhere around here these days.

Headed up to BRC today, found the bolted 5.4 and another route which I have no clue on the grade. Seemed to be 5.11ish, maybe easier. These are above the previously discussed lines by the road. Some more boulders not on mountain project up there as well.
