Is cathedral ledge rd open yet?

last time I was there the gate was closed. Is it open yet? |
|
|
no |

Hey Nick. No, it's not as of Friday. Typically they open it at the end of May, so my guess is that they are keeping it closed all season due to covid. I think it's better that way; less tourists chucking stuff down off the top. AB |

Per the park manager the gate won't be opened this season. |

On a somewhat related note, I saw a guy drag his motorcycle under the gate just so he could ride to the top. Thought that was pretty funny |

That's an impressive amount of determination and energy for someone who's apparently too lazy to hike to the top. |

It's pretty nice to be at the top of the cliff and experience the place without throngs of people. |

Probably for the best but I was hoping to get my kids out there and let them do some long 400ft climbs on top rope. I know it can still be hiked but its just a little more work. |

Sawyer Wwrote: At 60 grams/meter for a skinny rope that would be 7.2 kilos. + how much drag will there be with 120m of rope scraping against the rock? How often will the rope get stuck and be immobile? How much rope stretch will there be/how high must the climber be before they are out of decking range? |

Sawyer Wwrote: This does not add up! 400' TR would require at least a 800' rope, 'eh? That would be about 245 meters, not 120. |

I wonder how many tries one needs to throw down the 400' rope on upper refuse and hit the base? |
