Mike, I shipped a few ropes recently and found the best (cheapest) method is a Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Board Game Box. The box is free at the post office (or you can order it online). A 70m rope will fit just fine. It's $21.30 to ship regardless of weight. To fit the rope in it I essentially flaked the rope into the box. Lots of room to spare.
