During quarantine I built a climbing wall and 3d printed my own climbing holds as a cheap alternative to buying full price from manufacturers. I decided to start selling them on etsy and have a few variations currently available with more on the way soon. If you're interested in getting some great holds at an even better price, head over to my etsy page at this link and check them out: etsy.com/shop/3DClimbing |

how hard have you screwed the bolts in? i usually really crank with an impact driver to mount holds cause spinners suck. |

chris bwrote: how hard have you screwed the bolts in? i usually really crank with an impact driver to mount holds cause spinners suck. I printed a bunch of tests and really got my settings really dialed in before I started selling them. I put a washer in with the bolt to help spread the load, and so far the holds have held up great to repeated bolting as I reset my wall about every week. I also hate spinners and I really crank these holds down with my impact driver and I haven't had any problems with cracking or breaking holds. |

Quite honestly, I don't understand why there is hesitation from people above. The seller has done their due diligence with testing out the printing via trial and error, is a climber themselves, and is including 8 holds + bolts for $30 shipped. Since they have a washer included, which looks to be pretty securely snug, quite honestly I dont know why there would be issues with spinning - just crank on the bolt and teenut. I just bought the last batch and hell if they break a few months later - at least I supported somebodies passion. |

To clarify: not sure why etsy said there was only 1 left, these are being made to order and are still available! |

Cool idea! Would you accept special order CAD models? |
|

FYI, my holds arrived yesterday - in perfect condition. Did a session on them and they seemed as solid as other manufactured holds. |

Just placed an order for one of each set! Now I just have to finish building the wall... |

Thomas, I am not innovative enough to help design new holds, but if you can make some larger holds, you'd have a repeat buyer here. |

Hey Thomas, is the material durable enough for you to start producing some larger holds? Would love to see larger pinches or jugs or pockets, as long as they are durable enough to withstand some horizontal roof tensioning. BTW love the little crimps and foot jibs that you produced so far...those things are pretty slick which makes them a little more interesting to adjust to and a nice variation from other more textured holds. |

I am beginning to experiment with creating some larger pinches. So far they seem to be doing pretty well, but are also pretty slick which can be a good thing for training in my opinion. Makes you're movement more precise and calculated. Glad you're enjoying the holds! |

Thomas Zennerwrote: Can you share some pics? Also, I noticed that the crimps had a little bit of texture on the top via an x pattern. Any chance you can make the x a bit "deeper" and this would artificially add a little extra friction? |

Michael Atlaswrote: I will try to post some pics when I've got some better prototypes. As for the texture on the crimps, as I remember that texture is mostly on the side parallel to the wall (not being pulled on by you the climber), this texture is a result of 3d printing rather than an intended feature. This texture would be hard to replicate on the side that you actually use as a climbing hold, however I am also playing around with doing that. This seems a little ineffective from my testing thus far as it drastically increases print time (think higher cost for you) and reduces the overall durability of the part. The next thing I'd like to explore is adding a texture on top of the 3d print as some other non plastic medium. |
