Want to buy: the plastic UIAA cert tag at the end of your rope that says it's 50m or longer and rated as a single. Why?
My gym used to provide lead ropes, but as they re-open with COVID restrictions, it's bring your own rope. Fine, I own 5 ropes of different lengths and conditions. But wait! They require a UIAA tag at the end of the rope indicating it's single rated and longer than 45m. They don't inspect the rope for condition, they don't know if the other end of the rope has been chopped and if it's actually the claimed length, they just want a rope tag on an end. Unfortunately, I've taken all the tags off my ropes before they become crag litter, so none of my ropes meet the requirement, even though they are all single rated and plenty long. I really don't want to buy another rope, and since the rule seems like a formality that has no bearing on safety, I don't feel too bad just elmer's glueing a random tag to the end of one of my ropes.
So if you have a spare rope end tag, prevent it from becoming crag litter and send it to me! I'll pay you shipping and either some nominal fee or make a $20 donation to food bank, mutual aid fund, or BLM charity of your choice.
This is not my normal MP account for hopefully obvious reasons.

Most of my end tags are already gone, and the one rope that still has them (a Sterling) has them so tight they won't budge.
I'll keep my eyes fixed on the ground next time I'm at a busy crag; I should be able to find a few quickly. :-)

Just retired an old rope. If this is what you're looking for, shoot a PM with your details and I'll send it over.

I feel like a better plan of action is for us all to chime in about how bogus a policy this is. Maybe we can make this post go "viral" (In MP proportion) and convince your gym that they should find a better solution to their problem.

Also, couldn't the burden of proving this easily be shifted to, I don't know, the entity enacting the policy? It's obviously a legal thing, but in court, it's not gonna help their defense of release from liability when the member is able to say they worked around it with a very simple technique, and that the gym did nothing more to verify it.

Thanks all. Sam came through and I have some rope tags, and donated some money to BLM.
I do agree that lobbying to change the policy is the best, and I will also do that in the future. But for now, the gym is navigating through a lot with the state/local restrictions and its own (mostly sensible) health-related policies on top of that, and I don't feel like arguing a pretty minor issue with them right now.
