Interesting. A surly rant garners five pages of comments.

Anyone wanna restore my faith in humanity?

Kinda like the myth: “there’s no such thing as bad publicity.”

I have been out for hikes and people have in general have been well mannered about passing. Though my wife did tell some runner chick to FO because she was a shithead about passing and not giving some space on the trail. Which is significant, because it takes a lot to piss my wife off. And believe me after 20 years I know.

The right thing as defined by who?

Just rode slick rock. That felt great. Definitely the right thing.

As defined by each individual. Use your best judgement and may God be with you! Go forth and prosper.

In my province, the top doctor in charge of handling this pandemic. For a Canadian province with over 5 million people, and Canada's 3rd most populous city, we are doing fairly well compared to many other comparable North American jurisdictions.

Very good news. I have an Airbnb booked for late July in Whistler. Have you heard any news on the Whistler bike park opening this year. Border is closed till June 21st but am expecting it to open shortly after.  Fingers crossed

I'll take advice on gambling, drinking, and women from Lemmy. But that's it.

The Right Thing. What a joke. I drive 6 miles of Forest Service road to get home. Road is packed with people camping wherever they want. About a mile down the road are people camping 6 feet behind a no camping sign. Every plate on a car is from Utah or New Mexico.
The Right Thing. What a fucking joke.

Ah are you in N AZ because there's a lot of Utah plates there right now. I have a couple spots I like to go that are within my 1 tank of gas radius but holy cow. Every inch of National Forest Land is slammed up in certain areas. Mostly out of state plates. I'm not hating on them though. They have as much right to those spots as I do. It's just wild watching how crowded some areas have gotten.

But I agree, "the right thing" is stupid and it's harped about by people who often have access in their backyard or don't get out that much. Most aren't doing anything more than the selfish thing.

At present, all I know is that Whistler Bike Park has delayed their opening for the season, and say that they will have in update "in the coming weeks"

Late July...

I am pessimistic on the border being open to Americans by then, and only because the handling of this pandemic has been, and continues to be, such a shit show in the U.S.

You guys have already had more people die of COVID-19 than you did in the the entirety of the Vietnam War, and if the trend continues as it has been (let alone gets worse...) then your daily death rate will reach a point where each day is another 9/11 in terms of deaths.

I hope things get better for you guys. But based on what I'm seeing regarding how many states, and even many more people, are handling this... It is not confidence inspiring to put it mildly...

Everything else is just extra shit.

Not hating either. Just pointing out how stupid this all is.

And using Lemmy to gather likes is lame as well.

I’m just worried about high risk family members. And I just picked up a bass a couple months back and have been trying to wrap my head around that. So I think Lemmy was cool. Not trying to “gather likes.”
I’m going to work now. Have a good day.

How do you feel about the Swedes?

On another forum I've been involved in a discussion on how Sweden has chosen to has this.

All I'll say for now is that I am utterly baffled that a country viewed by many as progressive has chosen to go the route they did, and that so many people there defending their government's actions seem OK with accepting a lot of preventable deaths of their senior citizens.

As someone else in that discussion said, "Now you guys in other parts of the world get to have a taste of Swedish exceptionalism"

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
