Yosemite is scheduled to open May 16?

Actually, it makes 0 sense that curry is opening at all.  Shared bathroom facilities are the norm through curry, which is a recipe for virus transmission.

Good point! Forgot about that. Either way definitely feel for all the employees who have been living there for years that will be getting kicked to the curb

It seems that people are expecting that when things reopen, it will be a return to the way it was before the pandemic.
Nope.

Tuolomne store, grill, and post office will open. Crane Flat store will not open. Housekeeping Camp will not open. Yosemite Mountaineering School will not open. As noted, there will be no public transportation in Yosemite this year, Stables will not open. Curry Village will book 50% of accommodations, Yosemite Lodge and Ahwahnee will book 100%, Yosemite Lodge and Curry Pools will not open, Rafting will not open (you are allowed to bring your own raft and float though)

....I know everyone is anxious to hear when the park will open...hopefully we will know that soon!

Any word on White Wolf? Or how Curry will do the 50% approach with existing reservations? I've had July reservations for both for months now.

White wolf is closed for sure (I’m a high camp worker in the summers), and I haven’t heard anything about how curry reservations will be done.

Disappointing. But thank you.

Snowmelt isn’t a limiting factor this year, but again, no word on the 120 opening date.  The OP inappropriately posted an opening date, and as of now there is not an official date for reopening.  AFAIK, they aren’t even plowing the 120...

The planets are all turning retrograde this week, so I think we should see some reversals of these proposals.

Just for clarity, here are the proposals Erik was referring to.  This has been a devastating blow to the Yosemite community.  Personally, I am quite lucky - I was only planning on working the summer season in Tuolumne Meadows this year (cancelled).  May people are losing their jobs and consequentially their housing (we don't have renter's rights in employee housing and can be evicted with 48 hours notice).

Lol - next up in the news - the ticket price and wait list for this new uncrowded experience to be had in the world's prettiest places.  No money, no winning lottery ticket -> fuck you!  No conflicts expected with that.  Lol...brave new world.

No one has been talking about a pay-to-play scheme...  The only restrictions being discussed are # of cars allowed in the valley per day (even in normal summers, there are usually days when the park reaches capacity and people get turned around).

The valley is very clearly not opening, and i would change your thread title.

Ya, I'm an optimist.  But I should've put a question mark not an exclamation point at the end of my thread title. I'd change the thread title if I could.

Still hope to get in, if it opens I'll have a bed available in CV.

Can you hike 10 miles in to the top of El Cap from 120?  Rap the nose then climb back out?

This might be a stupid question, but what does "season" reference here? Just the summer? Or extending into the fall?

So if I'm reading this correctly, the Tuolumne tent cabins will not be opening this summer.  I've had terrible luck getting up there with the family.  A couple of summers ago it was during the fires.  Now, it's the virus.  Any guesses if the wilderness permit office will be open?

If you wanted to, but the trailhead is within the park, so if the park is still closed.....

"Yosemite is scheduled to open May 16!" - note the OP doesn't say which year. 2021 may be correct.

In an internal memo today, the company reiterated that there is no scheduled opening date, and that they had been instructed to cancel reservations through May 22(or 23), so it looks like, as others have suggested, they are just doing a rolling 2 week cancellation in the event that Yosemite is able to reopen, those with reservations will be first in line.....keep the faith gang!...and a sincere hope that we have effective treatments and/or a vaccine for this health crises soon! Woot Woot! E

It occured to me upon rereading the OP's initial post (missed it the first time because I was so disappointed with the titling of the thread) that the first thing OP wants to do when Yosemite reopens is share a tight living space with a rando from an online climbing forum. Good to know we've all learned something from all of this.  #thiiswhywecanthavenicethings
