FrankPS wrote: Bueller here. The governors of some states, such as California and Washington, are doing irreparable damage to the economies by keeping businesses closed.
They talk about plans to reopen. They are assembling "teams" to formulate these plans.
What they are doing is stalling. Too afraid to take the risk of reopening, so they take no action. Bold.
It's not hurting their personal finances, so they can play it safe by risking other people's finances.
And to top it off, these states are going to go crying to the federal government for loans or bailouts, since they didn't get enough tax revenue from closed businesses.
Hey California, where's the rainy day funds? No reserves?
Can I win a point for that, John? It takes a coward to put their money over people's health, too scared to risk a fall and too lazy to get back up. The fact you call the economic irreparable is laughable, be real here the world will bounce back, peoples finances will bounce back, how long this will take wholly depends on how progressive POTUS decides to be.

Being that the answer is “not at all,” the damage is very real. Most Americans are not getting 80% of their paychecks right now.

You do know that it's not a binary decision? It's not just do you care about money or do you care about lives? It's not that black and white. How about taking care of both? Many states are reopening now. I think some businesses will go out of business, permanently, due to this. It's irreparable for them.
We have "states" in the United States.

Yeah, we’re all interested in breaking out of this funk so it sounds good. Read some articles by epidemiologists though and you come up with another picture. Getting to the necessary 70% infected to (maybe) gain herd immunity, coupled with the transmissibility and lethality rate of this virus is a grim outcome. We need a vaccine/effective treatments. For sure we need to get going again but it’s not going to look the same and the yayhoos who don’t get it are an active threat. They may as well be shooting their ARs off into the crowd. I wish to hell we had a stable genius at the tiller, we need coherent strategy from the top down to not screw the pooch. It seems like some of the governors are the only ones taking more than their re-election seriously.

The damage is real but far from irreparable, at the moment you're a little over half way to employment numbers found in the great depression, if you're government learns from what bought you out of the great depression then the economy could bounce back in just a few years, but considering that would involve what republicans seem to think is communism you may have to make sure Biden gets elected.

{removed by Mods} You tell em Mike. Spread the word. There’s serious research that the sheeple just aren’t paying proper attention to....the truth will come out!Edit: I guess the mods removing Mike’s post makes this one moot and senseless.

Why are the trumpies so bothered by those three letters? Because their media constantly tells them to be triggered by her. And.they.obey. I had a rabid right wing friend tell me recently that he hoped AOC would get corona and die! He is a Utah Mormon go figure. When I asked him why she was so evil and deserved to die he had nothing besides she is a socialist liberal commie!

I have liberal friends tell me all they time that Trump should die or they wish he would be assassinated. I had a liberal friend say Rush Limbaugh should die a horrible painful death and she was psyched he had stage IV lung cancer.

There are way more than two alternatives. This kind of narrow thinking is how we ended up in a situation where we have to choose between two senile old rapists.
*sigh* here we go, Facebook all over again:
Most of the people chastising third party voting do not understand how electoral politics work. There are two states in the union that do not use winner-takes all (Maine and Nebraska) when assigning delegates. If you live in these states, sorry...you’re stuck voting for one of the rapists. This means that whether Trump/Biden win a state by 51% or 70% is irrelevant; the delegates are assigned the same. If you live in WI, Ohio, FL, etc or any other state that is purple/close...sorry, vote for the rapist. However, if you live in deep blue states like CA, NY, IL or deep red states like TX, KY, etc...it really doesn’t matter. Your vote is better served helping get a third party to 5% so we can have some actual real choices in this country instead of two awful ones.
FAQ: “But what about Ralph Nader, Jill Stein, etc!” -Al Gore and Hillary Clinton were bad candidates and they lost. It’s that simple. If the Democrats don’t want third party spoilers then they should select better candidates and actually make an effort to appeal to younger/progressive voters.
“Isn’t voting 3rd party like voting for Trump?” No, a vote for Justin Amash is a vote for Justin Amash. A vote for Jesse Ventura is a vote for Jesse Ventura.
“But candidate X is slightly less evil than candidate Y! You should vote for the lesser of two evils!” Evil is evil - Geralt of Rivia
“Trump is a fascist who will overturn our Democracy! We have to do everything we can to stop him!” -If he wanted to take over the country and set himself up as a dictator, he had plenty of ample opportunities to do so. Now would have been a perfect time and he didn’t. If you really believe that, you should be doing everything in your power to prevent Biden from becoming the nominee, and promising to vote for him no matter what is pretty much a guaranteed way of getting Trump 4 more years.
“Biden is a socialist who will overturn our Democracy and take all our guns!” No, he can barely remember what state he’s in and he’s center right.
“Amash/Ventura/Howie/etc can’t win! It’s pointless voting for them.” Neither can Biden.
