I was simply advising that at the time, it was not an appropriate topic to bring up especially in this area.

And as I coherently and simply stated "If you took the context of that post (at the beginning of the U.S response to COVID19) planning climbing trips at that point looked pretty futile. And people were using the 'future' to mean the next day when climbing restrictions were being implemented by LCOs to try and get around following precautionary measures."

everything is explained on why I said to not plan a climbing trip at that point in time.

Nah, man. You said point blank that since we don't know when it will end we shouldn't plan anything. I think this is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing, which is why I specifically pointed out that line. With all of the dark stuff going on right now, If folks want to ask about beta for areas knowing they absolutely can't go right now and for the foreseeable future (and anyone that doesn't know that at this point is an idiot, anyone that chooses to ignore that, well, that's another topic..), well, I think they should be welcomed to. Climbing should be a positive thing and something we should all look forward to when this is over. At the very least, it can be a decent distraction.

That said, i went to the gunks for the first time this past March while I was down there for work and I really can't wait to go back! I've also created a Google map of all of the other areas I someday want to visit and a created a spreadsheet of everything I want to climb in Vermont when this is over (who knows when!!!), and have shared it with friends. Yes, I've been bored. Sorry that I've also broken the unspoken rule of not being able to talk about climbing!

I’d agree with Jackie in that there’s no harm in planning a climbing trip (or six) during the lockdown.  It helps pass the time and keeps the motivation level high.  Hell, I’ve got a trip planned for late July/early August replete with a refundable plane ticket.

We can always stop planning climbing trips and only research climbing trips and do the "planning" when things open up. Are we good now? :)

I'm a ranger at the preserve.  My shifts these days are basically kicking people out.  It doesn't matter where you live, what you do, or how long I've known you.

One can plan or research inside their residence all day long for as long as they want until this is over.

One should not visit crags until they are deemed safe, but more importantly actually open to the public.

It's Ron's nuance between plan and research you are ignoring/not getting.  Is there a practical difference?  Probably not.  But just try and play along.

I thought Pierre was just objecting to strangers on the internet trying to tell him what to think about.

Pierre is purposely being difficult and lashing out. I guess I have to explain the joke. Try to light up a little during these trying times and have some fun. I specifically didn't tell anyone what or what not to do. Just some word play fun. If it wasn't funny I apologise.
