Oh come on man, let me break down the six phases of Franck you have graced us with over the last few weeks..

first there was whiny Franck who felt gyms should not be closed
then it was "this is an overreaction" Franck
then there was thoughtful Franck who has found the beauty in his home neighborhood again through running and meaningful activities while isolated
then there was virtue signaling Franck who appealed to MP to have partner finder closed
then it was please acknowledge how I have evolved on this issue and "stay the fuck home" Franck
now we are at I am climbing again outdoors, but doing it ethically and responsibly so it is ok Franck

Dude just own a stance, whatever it might be. You can't pick and choose the forums you engage people on based on your ever changing whims and the  different viewpoints you expressed on that forum.  Nor can you expect people to just forget that you have changed your opinions on this stuff like a dozen times now...

So does everyone think there will be less or more sending this summer?

I don’t remember Frank’s triggering performances, but in his defense it is an evolving situation. Hopefully it evolves to the point of Frank spraying about his crag humping or whatever bothers you then.

You do realize Franck is spelled differently than Frank? Notice that one has a "c."

Agreed. Calling frontline workers "heroes" is a primer for the portrayal of peoples' deaths as a "tragic wartime sacrifice" rather than the necessary symptoms of a broken system.

Someone shared the AMGA's "Stress and Resilience for Coronavirus" resource with me, and I thought it was really well done and had a lot of material that's relevant well beyond the guiding community. The stress continuum helped me contextualize some of my own reactions, and the "resiliency plan" materials have a lot of good ideas for small but concrete steps, many of which I have found more helpful than I might initially expect.

Okay I'm having a minor freakout: gyms have to remain closed until September 1 here. That includes climbing gyms. I live in a flat country and so far all the borders are shut as well. Of course the government phrased all regulations in such a way that they're gumby AF so they can always change this, but still. September is a long way off. Let's hope the internal European borders will open in the next months...

It sucks! I hear the elementary schools are re-opening though, on modified schedule.

I do find it interesting that Netherlands, and France, are opening schools, while keeping thegyms closed. But in the US it sounds like the gyms will open before the schools would.

Yeah there's a lot of movement. Lots of stuff is allowed to re-open over the next month-and-a-half, but inside sports are pretty much dead-end-last to re-open, together with saunas, spas, and sex workers.

Hopefully there will be some exemptions if conditions allow. If every climber sanitises their hands before they step into a route I would say it's fine to open the gyms, with all other standard regulations such as distancing and staying home with mild symptoms. The climbing federation and sports federations are pretty baffled at this decision.

With regards to the schools, it does make sense I think. Kids look like they don't play a large role in spreading the virus and a lot of other rules and regulations stay in place to make sure there's as little contact with adults as possible.

Same here. I can't even drive down to the Frankenjura from Berlin. My gym had a toxic mold problem and has been closed since the beginning of the year. My tendons feel good for a change, so there is that. And my running pace is better than it has been in years...

Hahah yeah same here, I had a slight finger injury which is feeling a lot better by now but given the choice I would rather have been climbing with a wrapped set of fingers right about now :D

I do think that reopening the schools, especially elementary schools, is an essential part of any kind of re-opening process. If you have more people go back to work, the young kids need some kind of care, and putting kids together into daycare is not meaningfully better than putting kids in school.

And as much as I want to climb, gyms being low in the list of priorities makes sense. I am really hoping that there would be easing on restrictions for outdoor recreations soon. Around here, many parks are closed, or at least the parking lots are, which often means the same thing as closing the park, in practical access terms. Doesn’t make much sense, as it is low-risk. But it is what it is.

I'm confident my injuries will come back in full force as soon as I get on rock. If I were smart, I'd do more pre-hab.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
