What the most thrashed piece of booty you have retrieved? I cranked out this old HB cam from rated X at donner about a year ago.

I’m not exactly sure what I expected to see in this thread, but I am disappointed nonetheless

Seasonal crack expansion/contraction is a real thing:

Killer thread concept. Too bad I don't have something better to contribute. Especially since I've become pretty adamant about digging out mangled booty, it's such an eyesore! Here's a huge curve nut I thwacked out of an easy climb. A little filing and she'll be back in circulation.

Gnarly. Did that thing fall right out or put up a struggle?

Is that from Sugarloaf, Mike?

N H wrote: Is that from Sugarloaf, Mike? Nope - it's from the Gunks. We don't normally think of thermal expansion there. Exfoliating domes like Sugarloaf and Poko slab are good places to see this in action, even in the span of an hour or two when the sun warms the rock. Oh, and to the previous post - it had fallen out of the crack on its own.

This old alien here. Kinked stem. I was able to straighten the trigger wires just enough to get the trigger working. functional so I guess I could carry it as bail gear

Looks fine to me. That stem does not appear to be kinked.

Someone used this to bail off Deep Throat at the Gash wall. Not super fucked up now that I've cleaned it, but it's pretty rusty. The worse I've found is a CAMP Aircam or something off the 3rd Pillar, but I don't have a pic of that

When did "trashed" become "thrashed"?

My son tried to ride my mountain bike with clipless pedals and fell ass-first onto a cactus. But I'm not posting a picture of that.

Hmm totally busted you should dispose of it safely by sending it my way.

Not much compared to the rest of this thread but here's the most knackered cam I have... Was thrown in with a bunch of forged friends I bought on craigslist. The wires were a whole lot more bent when I got it but I did my best to straighten it out. And a figure eight with a nice stonewashed finish I found in the bottom of a canyon a few months ago:

Oh and one of the forged friends I've decided to retire; the trigger wires were nearly frayed through on one side, so I replaced with some cord. The lobes were at angles like so: \/ \/ when I got it hence the nylon washers to remove the slop (still not sure why there is slop as the axle is a fixed length, maybe the springs have no more outward spring?). I'm keeping it for now as a fidget toy/dedicated backpack hanger to keep it off the ground at the crag.
