When I graduated Reno High we had the highest number of National Merit Scholars in the State per capita. I believe it’s something like 4th ranked public high school in Nevada currently. And they have programs that are focused on different career paths. Couldn’t have asked for a better public education. Led me to graduate from UNR honors (w/ the amazing millennium scholarship) and later get my masters from Georgetown University. Of course, anecdotal, but they are good schools (in the right areas) |

The Reno Nevada area is a boom town right now fueled by hordes of Californians fleeing the policies and politics they voted into office while living in California. Problem is, they come to Nevada and vote for those same policies and politics here. It’s a great place to live for now, but give it time. |

They’re good for people who get in early. Also, most of the people I know in California and fleeing California are transplants to California |

You may want to look at the actual population growth data: http://worldpopulationreview.com/us-cities/reno-population/ |

It is also obvious that the #1 source of Reno immigrants will be californians, regardless of whether they are disaffected by their old state-- it is geographically adjacent and has 10x the population.... In Reno we refer to Vegas as...................... East LA |

I was born in East L.A., could not ask for a better place to be born, nor better people to grow up with. Salt of the earth. |

Don't live in SLT unless you have a job in SLT. The Bay Area has driven prices through the roof. Carson or Reno are better options for jobs. Carson Valley is awesome rural livin if you speak redneck. |
