Maybe I’m just dense but the OPs use of the “word” Indigenx is a joke right? Or a typo?

Let's be honest - how many electricians do you know that mention they're an electrician, within a few minutes of meeting them, for no reason?

I wish it was, but it ain't.

Sounds more like someone who wants to guide indigenous people in order to have a legitimate excuse to climb on otherwise restricted formations.

Here's a single data point to consider:

When we were in Canyon de Chelly last year, we chatted with a woman who lives in Chinle. She's started rock climbing, and, as a Navajo is able to climb on tribal lands. She bemoaned the lack of local guides and has had to seek instruction in Durango and Moab.

This happens to be in the north canyon (Canyon de Muerto). It's around 900' high.

IIRC that has been climbed. There is a trip report floating around somewhere on a ancient early 90's style blog.

The photo in Canyon de Chelly is Spider Rock.  It is in upper Canyon de Chelly near the junction with Monument Canyon.  It is sacred to the Navajo and ascents are frowned upon.  It was first climbed in the 60s, with the approval of the NPS and everyone found out after about the local attitude. It has been climbed surreptitiously a few times since then by people who, frankly, should rot in hell.

I worked in Canyon de Chelly during the 70s and did a fair amount of technical climbing investigating prehistoric ruins.  My Navajo friends kept me advised of places to avoid.  There are several.  When in Navajo country, please respect their traditions and customs.  It is nothing more than basic courtesy.

Good luck on the offer Kevin, it's a good thing, even if folks here tend to being overly snarky about your motives. Just remember: "the dogs bark, but the caravan moves on".

Worked and lived on the Rez for a couple years; found Huge potential for young people there to be trained to become AMGA big wall guides, and thus be rightfully eligible to guide Bilagáanas on some of their many not-so-sacred mountains; they'd then have little reason to leave their austere, but beautiful home for employment.

Climbing keeps my depression in check and my stress at bay. My climbing helps everyone in this world because it has probably kept me from killing a bunch of people. But it has also helped with many many groups of people. Look at the public outreach. Some mentioned above. Look at the many benefits that many people derive from an escape from other worthless pursuits like work. Everything in life is a contrivance.  But work, money, and success are the worst. We invented those things as a society. They mean nothing. And have no value. Slave to some contrived BS for “survival”. Blah. The most selfish thing in life is going to work 12 hours a day to support the family you never see. Slave your butt off so others reap the rewards. What kind of a climber says there is no point. You are one of those climbers we can do without and probably responsible for a lot of the garbage the rest of us pick up on a weekly basis. As for the OP. His posts come off as spray. He wants to do something “good” well good luck to him. But as stated earlier. Work on your approach brother. Not everyone wants to be saved and most people dont need the condescension. If you want to do something at of the goodness of your heart , maybe do it before announcing it on the internet. Spray well sweet prince.

Put down the bong keif, pun intended.

Work, money, and success mean nothing? Please do tell, how do you make the world a better place? How do you contribute? Because climbing definitely does not make the world a better place.

If our inclusive spaces for indigenx womxn and non-binary persons are diversified and we check our privilage as a society and move to create wellness and despite our ideals of egalitarian expression that are normative to an intersectional conversation surrounding queer and intersex persons of color that our LGBTQ+ aware society can grow past normalizing patriarchial behavior patterns that manifest Jefferey Epstein didn't kill himself.

I don't even know what this means, but I like it. All the buzz words are represented.

Do they, Jon?

I'll make it easier:
"I'm scared I'm being left out."
"I don't like these new people."
"I want to rant on the internet anonymously.  What happened to our small community?!"
"I don't like these new climbers--they need to do what I did."
"All these other folks are taking from me what little I have."
"I don't understand this brave new world."
"It should be how it used to be."
"I fear change."
"The new gym routes suck."

As to buzzwords themselves, a great man once said, "You keep using that word.  I do not think it means what you think it means."

How does that saying go?

Give a man a climb, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to be an electrician, feed him for life.

Something like that.
