Ever visit a new area and wish you had photos of approach trail, start of climb, beta, topo? Often mountain project or guide books don't have it all, however mountain project could. If users could add/edit right from their phone, people could add more routes, comments, even entire areas. I climbing in Chile and nothing is on mountain project, their websites are poor for beta. If I could add as I climbed I could add every area and climb I went to while I was there. It would allow more use of the app by users and it would grow. As it is I rarely edit, comment or help because I have to take photos then go back home and get on the computer. If I could do it while staring at the climb!!!! The app would start to go viral.
I agree with everything you’ve said and have found myself thinking the same thing.
However, I’ve also considered the lazy ability for users to abuse such a feature. I imagine 50% of route photos consisting of blurry butt-shots. If it’s worth posting it’s worth the extra ‘work’ I suppose.

I think an administrator would help that. Just has to approve changes and photos. I am ok with a few photos of people climbing, but I use this app to find new areas, so approach trails, and start of climbs are what I'm usually thankful for.
