Hey,

I'm thinking of heading to Elephant's Perch and was wondering how the conditions were. I've heard it can be buggy, are the mosquitos bad right now?

Mosquitoes were present but not awful 2 weeks ago. Definately bring repellent.

Bring blood transfusion equipment to replace blood loss from mosquitoes...

Was just there the last two days. Mosquitos were definitely bad when it wasn’t windy- they didn’t bother us while climbing though, or much once the sun set. I just brought a head net and really wished I had a tent or full mosquito net.

Thanks Alia, good to know, I'll plan accordingly!

I don't think they're that bad. There are mosquitoes but not clouds of them like we've all experienced at other times. I was there two weekends ago.

They told me that mosquitoes were a big problem in this area. It is not like this?

I was just up there two days and had no problem with mosquitoes. We didn't bring repellant and I didn't miss it. Neither my partner or I got bit at all.

Well, I was up there 6 days ago and they were totally fucking insane at dusk. I could hear them laughing at me as they lapped up DEET like it was made of sugar.

But the climbing sure is nice!

We had bugs 2 nights ago at a similar elevation , but drier place too too far away

Was just out there, scrambled to the top on a quick little day hike. Beautiful weather, perfect conditions, no mosquitoes...and no one on the Perch! Go get after it now!!

What does this have to do with conditions?

You’re answering a question asked two years ago.

Still snowey but the snow may make it easier to cross the creek
