I am starting a trad rack for climbing in wnc with a VERY limited budget. My budget is about 600-800 dollars. What I am thinking of getting is BD C4 .3-3 with double size 1 and 2, as well as a set of BD nuts #5-11.
What are your recommendations about what to get?
All feedback is helpful :)

If climbing easier routes in WNC, get doubles in the smaller sizes before getting double 2s. Just get whatever you can find on sale or used. Getting two brand of cams such as BD and Metolius are nice, allows you to overlap sizes and gives you more options. Tons of threads on this...

A hell of a lot. They are completely different designs that come in different sizes. Both x4s and Mastercams (and Aliens, Dragonfly’s, etc) are all much narrower than the c4 in smaller sizes. That matters a lot in NC where you need to place cams is pods and eyebrows.
To be honest, if you don’t know the difference between these cams, you’d probably benefit from climbing a lot more before you invest in your own rack. Try to find partners with gear. Then you’ll see what you like and what you don’t.
