For any Twin Cities climbers who also like to bike, here's a fun link-up challenge!
-Bike from Minneapolis to Taylor's Falls (Official start from the UMN RecWell) -Climb a route on every major face on the Minnesota Strip (The Bulge, Blue Moon, Column Direct, Jammermiester, Fallen Knight, Piece of Cake/Pie, Rosebush, Station 62) -We climbed every pitch w/ one climber leading and one following. Both Sean and I hung on Station 62, so climbing style could be improved. -Bike back to the cities and chug a beer before you stop the clock!
This was initially done by our buddies Greg and Eli in a little over 16 hours, Sean and myself did it a couple weeks back in 10:49. Ended up being about 108 miles on the bike, and 8 pitches of climbing! Would be awesome to see someone who actually knows how to ride a bike smoke this time.
Go get after it and happy climbing!!

Would be really fun to see someone else try to do this in a push and make a speed record out of it, I'll be trying to take back the top spot at some point.
Or have someone step up and do Justin's new challenge, bike up to Pallisades, climb all the routes in ampitheatre, and bike back, would totally smoke Taylors falls challenge if that happened.

You guys sound like you’d be up for the “Megathlon”....more local than going to Palisade Head, though that sounds cool.
Original was to parachute into Baldwin. Bike to TF, climb the strips (mn, wi), canoe to Willian O’Brien. Trail run/road run to square lake. Swim across and back at square lake. Go to the bars in Stillwater to rehydrate.
Been done several times ’cept too many pussed out on the jump, so bike was TF to wild mtn and back.

Was back in the late 90’s. About 10 people started, some just doing a few events, and 3 people finished all events. 1 got lost on the run and was never heard from again, lol. Don Shelby of WCCO was supposed to do it, but was a no show. Time logs are likely lost to history on my old computer (rest in cyber-peace) the 6 event Adventure Duluth race (swim, kayak, roller blade, whitewater canoe, bike, and trail run) superseded it until that one stopped (PITA to organize).
would be up for resurrecting it. Would love to have a “two heat” format. One winter, one summer course with appropriate events. Combine the scores. Funny you raise this again as I was just thinking about this a few weeks ago when my brother and I did a “spring outta winter” 12 hour informal push through the state (Started with skiing at Spirit Mtn in Duluth, ice climbing at Sandstone, then kayaked the Kettle, then Climbed rock at Taylor’s Falls...was gonna add Mtn biking but the trails near my house were too soft yet)
