Looking for someone to help a newbie at Red River Gorge

Been climbing in the gym for about a year, just spent my first day outside learning the basics of sport climbing this past weekend. I am planning a trip down to Eastern Kentucky the week of 6/10-6/14, and wanted to see if anything was possible in Red River Gorge since it is so close. I would ask some friends from the gym to help me out since I'm so new, but none of them sport climb much at all and they are not available to travel to RRG. If anyone is willing to help out a new climber in the area, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I'd take you out, but I'd have to ask you for a nominal fee and to pay for gas, just to make sure you're serious about the whole thing. The Red is hot and sweaty this time of year, so count on a brutal, exhausting day out. DM me if youd like to talk more about it.

*Lead Belay
(GriGri ONLY, No ATC)
*Properly Catching a Fall/General Belay Theory
*Lead Climb
*Setting Up a Top Rope
*Route Cleaning (Safely on a ground anchor before any real route cleaning happens)
*Stick Clipping/Stick UnClipping
*How to Bail Off a Route that's too Difficult

If you're looking to just 'go climb' with someone, sorry man, I wouldnt be the one for that.

Hey man, what gym do you go to? My buddy and I are going down to RRG June 8-10 if you want to join. If love to climb with you in the gym before hand if that would be possible! just let me know!

Thanks for the reply! I climb at Vertical Excape in Evansville a few days a week, but that's about it. I'll keep in touch as I start to find everything out about my timing and when exactly I would be going. That would be awesome!

Would you ever want to meet up at Hoosier Heights Indianapolis? I’m about an hour north of Indy. You’re more than welcome to ride with us to RRG as well.

Hey man that would be awesome! I am busy every night this week until next weekend, but I am pretty much free during the days. Just hit me up whenever you want to meet there and I'll tell you if it works out. As for the ride, I have friends down in Kentucky that I am staying with for a week after we leave RRG, so it would probably be best for us to take separate vehicles. Thanks for the offer though!

Looks like rain this weekend so we are going to head up to Devils Lake for some bouldering. I’ll keep in touch!
