I am headed up with a team of three to Try the North Ridge route on Mount Baker at the beginning of June. with all the snow that has been in the forecast I was wondering if anyone had a better site to check for road and approach conditions than the NPS sight. Any Bata would be appreciated.  We are packing skis so skinning is an option and we are hoping to go Car to Car.

Thanks

Nate

You approach the North Ridge via Heliotrope, which is the same trailhead also used by the standard Coleman-Deming route.  Lots of traffic at that trailhead, and it was snow free as of last weekend per all the reports I have seen.  More info available here:

Even with the current precip, weather stations are showing the freezing level higher than the trailhead elevation (~4,000 ft), so it shouldn't be putting any snow at the parking lot.  If it did, it'll probably melt quickly, and if it doesn't melt you can just park down the road a bit and walk up (common in early season in big snow years).

Not sure why you are checking a National Park Service site for information on a National Forest. I would start here:

One can always call the district ranger station for more details.

I meant the FS.

Thanks I have their number in my phone.
